The Lookout House at Huelo Point Lookout in Maui is the perfect home base for exploring the island. The location of the house off the Hana Highway makes it a great starting point for your Road to Hana adventure. The famous scenic drive to Hana is a must-do activity for visitors to Maui, with breathtaking views of waterfalls, rainforests, and beaches. By staying at The Lookout House, you can beat the crowds and fully immerse yourself in the beauty of the island.

After a long day of exploring, come back to the house and soak in the hot tub with a chilled glass of wine, and take in the spectacular starry night sky. The wraparound decks on both levels of the house boast ocean and mountain views from every room. You can enjoy your morning coffee with a view of the sunrise over the ocean or relax in the evening with a view of the sunset over the mountains.

The Lookout House provides a great balance of privacy and convenience. Located just 45 minutes from Kahului Airport and 15-20 minutes from restaurants and shopping, you can easily explore the nearby towns and restaurants while having a secluded oasis to come back to.

The house is also equipped with all the amenities you need to feel at home. You can prepare your meals in the fully equipped kitchen and enjoy them on the teak dining table or the outdoor treetop barbecue lanai. For added convenience, the house features a private washer and dryer, big fluffy towels, and heated towel dryers. You can truly feel at home and enjoy a comfortable stay in this tranquil oasis.

Beautiful Rainforest Getaway

A spectacular property, best for adults
This property is just amazing. It is part of a "compound"style that is best for couples and not large families and its a more quiet, peaceful, serene location and while it has a pool its not heated and it more of a relaxing than boisterous place. Cannot recommend it enough for relaxation, beauty and the most beautiful part of the island, The owners are amazing as well

House did not disappoint! Beautiful location and views, great vicinity for the road to Hana and volcano summit, and comfortable stay. Due to water shortages on the island the water ran out but the hosts did everything possible to resolve it quickly for us.

Nothing short of spectacular
I cannot speak highly enough about Sharyn, Jeff, and their stunning property. When you think Hawaii, THIS home and its location are precisely what you picture. The added touches left (chocolates, fresh coffee beans, snacks, games, etc) made my family feel so at home and welcome. Sharyn was communicative and very helpful for giving tips on fun places to go and if you read the welcome book left you'll also find some of the best places to eat! If you want to see the natural beauty and non-tourist areas of the island then don't hesitate: this is the place for you!

Family Time in Paradise
Wow! What an incredibly beautiful property! The lush natural landscape and the colorful decor of the spacious home truly represent the highest sense of a tropical paradise. Our family of 8 appreciated how clean the home was on our arrival and we made great use of the well equipped kitchen during our stay. The strong WIFI connection made a few work hours painless and the consistent hot water was a pleasant surprise, considering our relatively large group. The owners were friendly and accommodating and ultimately Huelo Point Lookout was a wonderful location for our family to spend valued time together!

The views from the house of the ocean are breathtaking! The house fit our family of three generations, 8 people, perfectly! ( ages 7 to 67 ) Excellent communication from the owners!!! Piece of paradise
We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay. This house is tucked back away from the hustle and bustle. The views are amazing and the privacy unmatched! The bread, coffee and fresh eggs were such a nice touch and we appreciate the composting and gardening that is occurring. We would love to stay here again!!!

Fantatic Vacation
My wife, daughters and I loved staying at The Lookout House. Sharyn and Kai were great. Our kids loved the pool and cliff walk. My wife and I loved the views, space and privacy. Perfect getaway in Paradise

Amazing Sunrise Views
Sharon was an incredible host. We were greeted at our arrival with flowers strewn all around the house, bottle of wine, chocolate macadamia nuts, bread and eggs to make breakfast. It was a beautiful welcome to her house. You’ll enjoy beautiful views of the ocean, lush greenery, flowers, palm trees, etc, It was a marvelous way to wake up each morning loving the sunrise and gorgeous sky. I can’t wait to return.

Great, peaceful location
Had a great stay at the lookout. Sharyn was very helpful and great with communication. This property is just on the near side of the road to Hana and is very peaceful. Definitely preferred for my family as opposed to the more heavily populated South/West areas. Pool and hot tub were great. Wifi was great despite it being a little remote. Very close to North beaches (more secluded, rougher waves, not very swimmable when we were there, but very pretty). Saw a monk seal sleeping on the beach and multiple sea turtles swimming in the waves at Ho'okipa beach, which is about 15 minutes away. It's about an hour from the more popular West/South beaches (generally pretty heavily used, populated but better swimming).

Perfect spot
Beautiful. Quiet. Secluded. We couldn't have done better staying here. Wonderful views. It was like being in the forest, we couldn't get any closer. Much better than a hotel room or a condo. The weather here was an excellent microclimate of Maui. Just staying here and spending time with your spouse /and another couple is a way to experience Maui.

Tropical hideaway
Huelo Lookout is an airy, spacious house sitting on a bluff in the middle of a tropical oasis created by its owners, Sharyn and Jeff. The house is well equipped for any activity you might want to take on. There are coolers, beach chairs, beach towels, some snorkel gear, boogie boards, etc. The pool is refreshing and there are plenty of lounge chairs and tables in various locations. The hot tub was great and is surrounded by what I called the secret garden. The owners and their helpers were super friendly and gracious hosts. They provided us with fresh fruits and eggs from their garden along with wine, butter, jams, coffee and a delicious loaf of bread to get us started. When we arrived the whole house was strewn with gorgeous flowers and there were several floral arrangements throughout the house. We enjoyed working a puzzle in the lower room and watching the sunrise and stars from the decks. The weather was less than cooperative but the location meant that we could jump in the car and quickly be upcountry or over in Wailea or Kehei. It’s a great spot for exploring the road to Hana. Sharyn stays in touch to ensure that all is as it should be and is a fabulous host. A large family group could rent the multiple units and really have a grand time.

Our family truly enjoyed this property. It was centrally located to be able to explore all areas of Maui. It is off the road to Hana which makes that trip a bit easier. Loved the close proximity to Paia, and Makawao. Our favorite beach was just out of Paia--Baldwin beach. As you clear Paia, the traffic is much easier/quicker. The house is fabulous. It is much larger than we thought. There are 4 bedrooms plus a bonus bed/day bed in the living room. We were welcomed with fresh fruits, wine and flowers everywhere. Our boys especially loved the hot tub. It was so quiet which is exactly what we wanted after a day of busy. I can't say enough about this property. I highly recommend it.
