  • I would not usually consider a garden a must-see experience, but I am really glad a local told us to visit Hamilton Gardens. The experience of wandering through a maze of hedges that open into perfectly cultivated gardens plucked complete from other countries and other eras was quite possibly the closest I will ever come to feeling like Alice in Wonderland come to life. You never know what magical sight waits around the next bend in the path.

  • A few kilometres downstream from Lake Taupo the river changes to some rapids for a short distance. When the rapids finish there is a drop which creates a waterfall. It all ends with this scene which is stunning. Only a 30 second walk from the car park to the river this shot was taken about a 5 minute walk further downstream on the main track at sunrise.

We have stayed here before so it was an obvious choice for a one night stay this time. The room was spotless, the beds very comfortable, plenty of tea and coffee. The manager was very friendly and told us to use the disabled parking space because my daughter was on crutches. There was some noise in the evening due to the stadium being across the road, but the match had finished by bedtime. Now thinking of another reason to come back to Hamilton just to stay here.

A pleasant stay in Hamilton

A great location for someone coming to Hamilton for a couple of nights of business or pleasure. Room was relatively comfortable and nice and clean. I’d stay here again.

Avoid. Very strong smell of potpourri musk cleaning products made it un-sleepable. Could not stay due to the smell. Staff not patient or able to see the fault in their property and would not refund. Shame on you for treating an innocent customer in such a way. Their call in not assisting and doing the right thing, resulted in this review. That was a really unacceptable email Michelle. Terrible.
