“This was a comfortable, roomy cottage. We used it as a home base for exploring the Isles of Harris and Lewis. The owners were friendly and very responsive. This is still one of the spots we rave about after our trip. There is a great little coffee/tea/shop just at the end of the drive with a friendly proprietor and even friendlier doggo. ”

“The location of the cottage in Carloway is great for exploring the island of Lewis, it’s archeological sites, many walks and hikes. There is a well stocked shop in town for anything you need. The house is cozy and peaceful looking out on the loch in front. The kitchen has good supplies for cooking. It is the perfect place for rest and renewal in the beauty of the western isles, and also as a base for outdoor activities.”

“This Riverview Cottage was the perfect home away from home for my best friend and I as we explored The Isle of Lewis and Harris. It was centrally located so it was perfect for going North, South and then back to Stornoway to explore and catch the ferry back to Ullapool. Ann and Angus were laid back and helpful. Angus checked in on us the first morning and shared information about the area and property. What we wish we would have known: You need to have a car to get around from this location so……

“The property was very comfortable and spacious. Everything necessary was available. We couldn't have asked for more and didn't expect what we found at at a very honest price. We cannot fault John for his cooperation and his management of the property. The information available was comprehensive and up to date. The position of the house is excellent if you have a car and want to visit all of the island. The maximum drive time was about 1 hour and fifteen minutes. We can only HIGHLY RECOMMEND this……

“The property was exactly as it looked in the pictures, it was airy, clean and spacious with lots of room for the whole group to get together but plenty of quieter space for some 'me time'. We already know the island and have lots of family there and Jan and Callum offered to come and extend our table if they were coming over, asked where we needed safety gates and provided top class toddler safe equipment. The weather was great so we made very good use of the local.beaches and garden too. Great……

“First time on Harris and Lewis and really enjoyed the house. It has its quirks (first holiday home ever with an over abundance of storage!) but was spacious and spotless. Had to reset the heating on the first night due to no hot water (the island suffered a total blackout the night before and knocked it out) but the hostess replied immediately and the problem was solved in minutes which was a huge plus. Recommended for anyone visiting the area”

The setting--literally at the end of the road--offers peace and quiet along with incredible views, and it is fairly central for day trips to the island's sites. “This large house located in Swordle just 10 minutes from the town of Stornoway has everything you need for a family vacation! 5 bedrooms with lots of room for additional guests, this house is perfect to host large gatherings. It has an amazing view over the water where you can see ships and ferries entering the harbour. My family and I would absolutely come back to Druim Mor when visiting the Isle of Lewis.”
