"Second time I stayed here (last year it was Flexstay Inn). The only issues were this spikey metal coil I found in the carpet and removed myself (not too bad), and the toilet seat dipped down on the left side when you sit down. Otherwise a perfect stay. Thank you!"

"Staying inside of a renovated bank building in the old downtown with a cool vibe and super high ceilings was fantastic. The beds were comfortable, the bathroom was also great with good water pressure and hot water. The staff was super friendly and helpful - plus the hotel has bikes on site for rental which a great way to explore the area. You can also ride the streetcar to get from here to the 5-star bastion fortress park and other areas. The red brick warehouse tourist / shopping area is just a block away. The ropeway to get a view from the nearby mountain, and many interesting churches are also within easy walking distance. Highly recommended. Although the hotel shows a bit of minor scuffs in the rooms, it just provides character to an otherwise great choice."

"This hotel has a good seafood buffet breakfast as well as a free sight seeing bus. If you’d like to go the night viewing of Mt. Hakodate on the free bus, you need to reserve for the weekends, well in advance. We went for the sunset viewing only on the free bus. Very friendly and staff. The coin laundry was easy to use and cashless. There is also a very convenient grocery store behind the hotel and a few minutes from the Hakodate train station. "

"Overall property condition is pretty new and very clean, bathroom is a bit small but setup very creatively to maximize space utilization. Location is close to tram tracks, so can be a bit noisy. Room has a washer only, no dryer, limited hangers to dry clothes maybe provide a foldable drying rack so that guests can put it out on the balcony in the summer or in the room as the room is pretty spacious (we have kids so we have more clothes to wash) "

"Loved this hotel! Staff were helpful and friendly, and the breakfast is amazing - incredible seafood and other options - probably the best hotel breakfast we’ve had! The hot spring spa on the top floor offers a great view along with a clean and comfortable experience. Some of the tile is getting a little dated, but overall it’s great. We wish we had a Japanese style room, but there weren’t many listed on the Hotels.com website. The location is convenient to shops and restaurants, and it would be even better if there was a hotel van to go to and from the train station. "

"Great place to stay. Property is very spacious. Staff responded very quickly to my email enquiry. Only thing to note, there is only 1 aircon unit that is in the main lounge covering the whole property. Luckily the weather was not too hot and the bedrooms managed to remain at comfortable temperature. I can see it could be a problem if the weather gets hotter and the doors to the rooms are closed to keep the early morning light out. "

"It’s a typical Japanese hotel mostly catered to Japanese. The staff are very polite and friendly. The room is very clean but on the small size which is typical of Japanese hotels. The breakfast is delicious. Parking is easy with the hotel parking lot. Another big advantage is laundry facilities right at the hotel which we took advantage of. "

"If you're visiting Hakodate, then odds are you have stayed at some APA hotel at some point in your life. You stay at APA because it's affordable and well kept up, which holds true here as well. I've stayed in a handful of APA locations, and this location has the best customer service I've experienced at any APA. As for the building, it's probably older, but you wouldn't know because both the room and hallway are in great condition. They clearly have renovated or replaced over the years."

"The Annex is way better than the other one which is older and has gone downhill. This one is beautiful in a Japanese retro and romantic way fitting to Hakodate. Plenty of yeasts and snack services, 3 private baths besides the big bathing areas, fabulous breakfast with fresh everything, even bubbly and sake!! Our room was spacious (premium deluxe) and many thoughtful touches and amenities. We had the dinner plan too. The first night included all you can eat made to order sushi and wagyu shabu shabu. The second night main was wagyu sukiyaki and tempura. Both dinners had plenty of small plates too, featuring the local IKA SOMEN ( thinly sliced like angel hair noodle local fresh caught squid) and the second night two free drinks so we hit two big bottles of beer! Service and hospitality was great. The massage had bad reviews and was expensive so we didn’t go, but just relaxing in the wonderful bath was plenty!!! "

"Small hotel approximately 7 minutes walk from JR station, with plenty of restaurants within 5 minutes walk. Staff were very helpful. Comfortable stay, room wasn't overheated like other hotels, with central controlled air conditioning system on warm cycle. Free breakfast with stay, free coffee in the morning till 10am, and free potato soup served 8pm in the evening."

"A great place to stay with a very kind and helpful staff! Not much noise in the area at all and it’s only two or three blocks away from where the local commuter train stop is. So it was very easy to get around town on foot and to and from the train station on the commuter rail. I would love to come visit again sometime soon!"

"Aesthetically absolutely beautifully designed interior, however not so functional. We stayed over the new year so it was cold/dry weather so we wish they had humidifiers. The beds are extremely comfortable unlike the beds at the major hotels so we were able to get rest well to recover from 13 hours flight. Unfortunately unlike other guests, we didn't get response from the owner quickly. We got a response 3 days after we checked out which was not a big deal anyway. "
