Feel the crunch of the immaculate white sand particles between your toes and snorkel amid the corals in the crystal clear water.
Long Bay offers a pristine strip of white sand and warm, blue-green water. It is flanked by picturesque, mossy rock formations and contains a restaurant and beach house. Stay at one of the nearby resorts and villas and sunbathe on the soft sand.
Rent equipment from the beach house for a variety of watersports. A short walk into the shallow sea leads to the corals. Go snorkeling in the crystal clear Caribbean Sea to spot the range of colorful fish. Among the species here are angel fish and blue tangs. Rent a deck chair for sunbathing or get an umbrella if you want shelter from the scorching afternoon sun.
Stay until sunset to see the mesmerizing effect of the sky’s darkening hues on the mossy rocks that flank the beach. Enjoy the serene ambiance in this clean and secluded bay. The beach is even less crowded than usual early in the morning, when the sunrise drapes the ocean water and rocks in shades of gold.
Chat with reps and guides to organize tours and cruises of the island. Purchase food, snacks and souvenirs from the occasional vendors. Travel east to find the spectacular blowholes of the eastern coast. Snap photos of the Devil’s Bridge, a natural open ridge that traverses a rocky lagoon.
Note that much of the western part of the beach belongs to the Pineapple Beach Club. However, the sandy bay and its restaurant are free to access.
Long Bay is on the northeastern corner of the island of Antigua. Drive east from the town of St. John’s for 12 miles (19 kilometers) to get here in about 35 minutes. The bay is just a 5-minute drive north from the village of Willikies. Visit nearby sights, such as Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church and Laurys Bay.
