Considered to be sacred by the locals, Mount merapi is the most active volcano in Indonesia located in the border of Central #Java and the city of Yogyakarta. It has erupted regularly since 1548 with the most recent eruption occured on 18th November 2013. While considered as a tourist attraction nowadays, the danger of eruptions are still a possibility so always check on government warnings and alerts before visiting.

The path up to the #mountain can only be accessed with all-terrain jeeps which are rented at the base of the mountain for around 300-400 thousand rupiah which includes a driver.
