I would recommend flying in from Perth, starting in Broome with a few days and then heading into the Kimberley. A must do in Broome is the cable beach sunset camel ride, there are two operators that do a very similar walk. The views from the pictures in the booking are nothing like what we saw from our hotel room. The bed was comfortable, but we did have a bright purple light shining in from the building across that was visible even with the blinds shut. Our biggest challenge was the check-in with the airport transfer. There was confusion, and it seems like a technology issue, which happens and I can understand that. What was upsetting to my wife and I was the staff and the shuttle driver being rude to us. The shuttle driver was telling us we did not have a hotel reservation (not sure how he would know that). The woman checking us in said that we never talked to anyone from the hotel about an airport shuttle (in which case, I'm not sure how there would be a driver at the airport with our name, picking us up, and bringing us to the hotel). I also offered to explain and show the entire chat history on my phone taking place with staff from the Airlie Beach Hotel to arrange this transfer. This was challenging, as while trying to explain and answer their questions, I couldn't speak a full sentence without being interrupted. It got sorted, eventually, and it seemed like the shuttle driver blamed the hotel for not booking it properly, and the woman at the check-in apologized. But what an abrupt way to be "welcomed" to the hotel. No drama there. Got back from dinner around 9 and heard a noise didn’t think much of it till I got into bed and the noise continued. It was a loud drilling sound. After about and hour of this I rang reception to see what was going on. They said they were preparing for the maintenance I asked how long it was going to go on they said they’d call me back. The noise continued on and off for the next hour so I rang again. The attitude was pretty much too bad and I could change rooms, yes change room from the deluxe king ocean view room I paid for to a standard room then move back the following day. No offer of any compensation no offer of anything. I was unpacked and my assistance dog was sound asleep we’d been up since 4am so at 11pm it wasnt an option I wanted to take.The drilling continued and I rang again and got pretty much the same answer and attitude. I asked if there were other complaints and they said yes. nThe whole point of this is if they had scheduled maintenance why book rooms that were going to be effected. Pure Greed as far as I’m concerned. I also could plug the jug or coffee machine in next morning. I’d plug them in turn on and the plug would slowly slide out and appliances stopped working.There was also lots of mould in the shower and on air con. Mentioned the noise on checkout and all I got was oh sorry about that. Never again!"
