"I recently stayed at Hyacinth Pension for a two-night trip to Tongyeong. While the view from the bay-facing rooms is lovely and there’s a charming coffee shop and gift store just down the hill, the condition of the property fell well below what was advertised. We rented a “Deluxe Duplex,” and sadly saw visible water damage, the bathroom was damp with long term mold and a rotting door. "The hotel itself is beautiful and the facilities are nice, but the location was a major disappointment for me. I was traveling alone without a car, and the hotel was much more isolated than I had expected when I booked it. There is very little within walking distance — no convenient restaurants, convenience stores, or easy access to a beach or other places to visit. More importantly, the roads around the hotel do not have sidewalks, so I did not feel safe walking along them. The hotel staff also confirmed that walking to nearby restaurants or attractions was not recommended. As a result, I had to use Kakao Taxi every time I wanted to go anywhere, including getting back to the bus terminal. This quickly adds extra cost and makes the stay much less convenient if you do not have a car. I had originally booked two nights, but I decided to leave after only one night and return to Seoul earlier than planned. For someone with a car who is looking for a quiet and secluded place, this hotel may be a good choice. However, for a solo traveler who relies on public transportation and likes to be able to walk to restaurants, the beach, shops, or simply go for a walk, I would not recommend this location."
