When he reluctantly offered a lift out as I had a broken ankle & we commented that we felt he was prioritising his vehicle over us, there was no apology for the inconvenience, just a tirade of abuse as he started swearing & using very personal & rude profanities. Note check in time was advertised as 11 am but he was adamant we should be "off his property by 10 am". A beautiful property spoiled by terrible host." I barely heard any noise from people in other rooms, including no tv noise! The primary downside was the unsupportive mattress which was a common experience for me throughout NZ, leading to poor sleep and aggravated bad back, even with all the wonderful pillows. It also made it hard to ignore the sounds of very large trucks driving by or stopping out front, throughout the night. I ended up getting a white noise app and playing it loudly to help drown that out. I would consider ataying again, dependent on room location and probably not for multiple nights." However, our check-in experience was a bit stressful. We arrived around 5pm but were unable to reach the host initially. After some time, she called back and mentioned that she had forgotten to send the check-in instructions with the key information. There were also quite a number of house rules and requirements after arrival that were not clearly stated on the booking page. For example, the washing machine is not available for short-stay guests. Check-in itself was simple once we received the instructions, but check-out requires guests to complete quite extensive cleaning. We did our best to leave the place tidy, but the cleaning took quite a bit of time and delayed our next travel plans.
