Balut is a 14 to 21-day old fertilized duck egg depending on how developed one wants the duck embryo is. Balut is a common street food that has its origins in China. Pateros is the balut-capital of the Philippines. Balut is boiled and then eaten with salt or some spiced vinegar. The way to eat balut: crack the shell, peel it bit by bit, slurp the soup (cooked amniotic fluid of the chick) before eating the egg and embryo. It is a favorite street food in the Philippines as it is cheap and nutritious. Another version for the less squimish is Penoy. It is an unfertized duck egg that is boiled. Depending on one's preference, it is just egg boiled with the consistency from runny to hard boiled - definitely no duck embryo on this one. "This hostel has a good location. It is located in the entertainment district in Malate, but I was not bothered by noise from these venues, nor did I in any way feel unsafe when walking in the area during the day or early evening. The hostel has a good Wifi service and I found the staff to be friendly. I am certain I will stay at this hostel again in the future."

"Stayed for 2 nights in a shared female dormitory. The room was comfortable to sleep in. You have your own bathroom in your room but the hot and cold shower was kinda confusing it goes super hot and super cold. They have common bathrooms too but needs maintenance. Good location for the party districts and also walking distance to Century City Mall. If your planning to go to Ayala, Makati it is also walking distance around 30 mins. The hotel is kinda artsy. "Belmont Hotel has consistently been a great place to stay, especially if you're flying in or out of Terminal 3 at Ninoy Aquino International Airport. One of the biggest advantages is the easy access — you can walk from Terminal 3 to the hotel via the skywalk in about 10 minutes, which is incredibly convenient. The rooms are always clean and nicely maintained, with a comfortable bed that makes for a good night's rest. What really makes the difference, though, is the staff. Everyone is warm, welcoming, and professional — they make you feel right at home. This is my 4th time staying at Belmont, and I wouldn’t hesitate to book again. Highly recommended for travelers looking for comfort and convenience near the airport. "
