About this property
Portland’s Best Ocean Views from a 40-Foot Private Deck
Wake up to the ocean every day in this top-floor, 1-bedroom, 1-bath East End apartment with sweeping, unobstructed views of Casco Bay. From sunrise to sunset, the water is always in view from the living room, primary bedroom, and the expansive private deck perched high above Fort Allen Park.
The nearly forty-foot deck is the star of the show. Daily life here includes lobster boats hauling traps, sailboats tacking across the bay, and cruise ships passing by. On clear days, you can even spot four iconic lighthouses in the distance. Many guests spend more time on the deck than anywhere else.
Inside, the apartment blends historic charm with modern comfort. Hardwood floors run throughout, complemented by granite countertops, and a fully equipped kitchen with a natural gas stove and generous cabinet space. The octagon-shaped living room and separate dining area create an inviting layout for relaxing.
Bedroom feature queen-size bed, and cooling ocean breezes flow easily through the windows on warm days.
Built in the late 1800s, this is one of Munjoy Hill’s most historic homes, offering original character paired with thoughtful updates. Directly across the street are Fort Allen Park and the Eastern Promenade Trail, which truly function as your front yard. East End Beach is steps away, and the Old Port and downtown Portland are an easy walk.
If you’re looking for one of Portland’s best ocean views with a private deck to match, this is it.

Cannot say enough about how beautiful this place is, and it's in a perfect part of town, close to the restaurants/shops, but not too close. Owner was great as well--definitely ask him about his hot sauce!
We decided to go to Portland for our honeymoon so we really wanted a nice place to stay and, let me tell you, this exceeded all of our expectations! The rooms, the patio, the neighborhood, the view- all of it was breathtaking! The owner was so nice and welcoming- really every local we ran into was! We were really sad to leave but we will absolutely be back.
The property location was great. The unit had everything we needed even though we only slept there and ate meals out. Dan (our host) was great and told us to check out Peaks Island which is where my daughters boyfriend ended up proposing to her!
My husband, daughter, and I stayed for two nights and had a wonderful time. The apartment was clean and nicely appointed - everything we needed was on hand. It's in a great location - walking distance to everything downtown. The views were truly amazing! Dan was helpful and friendly. We will be back! ♥️
My partner and I went up to Portland for a quick getaway. We were going to a show at Thompson’s Point in South Portland on Friday night and decided to turn it into a weekend stay. I saw this property on VRBO and the pictures of the view looks stunning. We have been exploring Portland for the last year or so and this looked like another step in that direction. The views were exquisite, and we just loved the neighborhood where the property was located. Close enough to easily walk into town for all of the touristy things one might want to do. But also far enough away for some peace and quiet. We actually went to a local restaurant ““ on Congress Street in the area we were staying. The Front Room. Check it out if you stay in the area. Back to the property. Our host was both inviting and warm during our stay. This place is a gem. Perhaps we’ll get back to it at some point.
Immediately entering the property it wowed us. The property is 2 bedrooms with plenty of space, a spacious kitchen and living room. The deck off the first bedroom was our favorite spot to hangout! The views of the hill and water were spectacular. I ended up proposing to my fiancé right in front of the property on the hill, and the pictures do not disappoint. The host was amazing, as we arrived he met us, told us about the street parking situation, and said if we needed anything do not hesitate to reach out to him. If there was a step above premier host, he is it. We will definitely be back in the future.
The deck is amazing and it was nice to spend time out there.
The 2 bedrooms have 1 double bed in each room, which was not suitable for our older daughter and son to share. Dan was kind enough to let us know about the inflatable bed, which we used.
Dan is a friendly host with good suggestions for meals and things to do.
The apartment is spacious. The windows now have blinds (i read this from other reviews as being a problem).
Some of the dishes and the bathroom were not clean.
The A/C - 2 windows units in the bedrooms. The rest of the apartment is not air conditioned. the front bedroom's AC worked better than the middle room, but both were temperamental and not always cooling the place. Luckily it wasn't that hot for our stay.
We liked the proximity to town, ease of parking and the porch. But overall, we were disappointed in the value for the rental price. Especially the cleanliness where there is a cleaning fee charged.
It really is the best view in Portland! We loved sitting on the balcony and enjoying the water. Dan was a great host and gave us helpful suggestions about what to do during our stay. Check In was easy, apartment was clean, Dan responded quickly. Would absolutely recommend!
Dan our host was super friendly and we loved the VRBO. Overlooking a park and the Ocean, we enjoyed the deck and bright living room. Downtown walkable and made easy taking the bike path along the Ocean. Beautiful houses!

Fantastic Rental
Everything was wonderful in this clean cozy rental. Dan was super responsive and gave me all the info I needed to find the place, park and get in easily. The beds were comfortable and the views were outstanding.
Beautiful property, great location, walkable to everything but quiet and peaceful. Not sure why it’s listed as a one bedroom - it has two bedrooms, which maybe explains the price. Overall I was very pleased. I’d recommend getting some jigsaw puzzles or something to do on those rainy days!
The location of this property was perfect for views of the bay, access to a bike/running trail, and the Promenade park area of Portland.
For anyone over 6 ft, the shower might be a little tricky as the ceiling is sloped, but I managed at 5" 11".
This authentic Victorian house was so super cute! The host was very communicative and checked in on us. It was foggy while we were there and Dan seemed to genuinely feel bad about it (we didn't mind). The location was perfect across from the park with so much history. On our way out he gave us a tour of his hot sauce factory (in his garage) that was quite impressive. He's very proud and he should be. The sauce was amazing. His dog was super sweet, too! The very best part was the deck! It was absolutely beautiful, fog and all!

Spectacular Views! Stunning Sunrises!
We loved our stay at this condo. The view from the octagon living room, front bedroom, and the deck is simply magnificent! Casco Bay is just beautiful. I loved watching all the sailboats! The condo, located on the third floor in a Victorian house in the Munjoy Hill section of Portland, is beautiful and very comfortable. It is within walking distance of several restaurants, markets, and churches. I think we picked the hottest week in the year to visit Portland, but the bedrooms were cool with ac and opening the windows in the rest of the condo brought in enough breeze to be comfortable. The house is well-stocked with all the amenities we needed. The owner, Dan, is extremely nice. He called us the day before we were arriving just to let us know he was expecting us. He met us upon our arrival and showed us everything in the condo. If we needed anything, he was just a text away. He is very prompt and helpful. Dan even texted to let us know there would be a music event at Fort Allen Park just to give us a few more options for entertainment. Booking the condo was extremely easy. I highly recommend staying at this condo.

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, location
Disliked: Communication
Nice view with limitations
Our trip to Portland, Maine was excellent but our stay at “Best Ocean View in Portland!" was mixed.
The view is incredible and the patio had ample patio furniture. The location is excellent. The Promenade is across the street and the shops and restaurants on Congress street are within walking distance. The #1 bus picks up in front of the unit and can access the transit center and most of downtown. The rest of the apartment was short on furnishings and fell short of the description on VRBO.
The ad said “dining room” but there were no dining table or dining chairs. There is an elevated breakfast bar. We love to play cards and board games and had to improvise an adequate table/seating combination. The kitchen had no toaster or dishwasher (though neither was advertised).
The wifi was punishingly awful. Our phones couldn’t connect to the signal anywhere in the unit and our laptops were only able to connect in the kitchen. If we were able to connect to the wireless router, the signal was mostly useless. For example, googlemaps would take minutes to load before an address could even be searched.
Advertising the unit with washer and dryer was misleading. There is a coin-operated pair ($3.75 per load) down three flights of stairs in the dingy basement that is shared by the entire building. I had to walk to a laundromat to get quarters because there is no change machine! It is not how you want to spend your vacation.
Advertising satellite or cable tv was also misleading. There was an HD receiver for broadcast channels and there was a coax cable but it did not connect to the tv or a cable box.
Finally, there were no blinds or drapes in the front bedroom, which created two issues. First, the windows look to the Southeast and are flooded with sunlight at 5:30 AM when the sun rises. Second, the windows overlook the deck, which means there is little privacy for the occupants of the front bedroom.
Dan did a great job preparing us for our stay and providing instructions for our arrival. He contacted us twice asking if we needed anything. After we expressed some concerns about the unit, he did not contact us again. We never received departure instructions.
The view really is unparalleled and the unit has ample opportunity to justify the steep price. I hope the owner makes modest changes so the space can reach its potential.
2 stars (we had high expectations based on the price and description)

Beautiful as soon as we first walked in! Wake up at sunrise and you’ll be happy you did☀️
We all had a great time exploring Portland with all it’s pretty vistas and great restaurants. Coming back to our condo was relaxing at the end of the day with its balcony overlooking Casco bay. Only issue for some would be three floors of steps but we were loving the extra steps at the end of the day after eating our way they this cute town!
We look forward to coming back! Dan was great to work with, meet in person and quickly responds to any questions you may have

The property was very clean. It was a hot day he had bottled water in fridge for us.
My overall experience was amazing. The view was spectacular.I spent most of my time either in the living area or on the deck.I particularly enjoy the convenience to the beautiful Fort Allen Park. This is a beautiful well designed park w many trails along the ocean. In the evening I enjoyed the short walks to the local restaurants which were excellent.Along the way I noticed many live outdoor concerts.Munjoy Hill is a beautiful community.I am looking forward to my next visit in October.
