the house was nice. not much near by. it would have been better had the listing been more clear. it said it holds 8. we came with 7. i wasnt aware there would be up charges for more than 6 people. the listing said it was pet friendly so we brought our 2 pugs. i didnt realize there was a charge for that as well. otherwise the house was nice. the listing should announce clearly that you are charged for over 4 people staying

Beauty in the dessert
This home is lovely and comfortable, with sensational views of the surrounding dessert landscape and mountains from every angle. Our group enjoyed hanging out on the patio, firing up the chimenea, watching the mountains change color as the sun set, and then observing the night sky full of stars. We loved the art shops in nearby Tubac and visiting the historic Presidio there (a must-see attraction if you enjoy history). Another must is visiting the mission at Tumucacori, just a few minutes away. The only reason we didn't give this house 5 stars is a collection of nuisances/ disappointments that took off a star. Chief among them was the cleanliness of the home. On the surface, it is just fine. But when you look a little closer there is grime on the floor, especially in the corners and baseboards. When we arrived, the toilet in the main bathroom obviously had not been cleaned, as there was evidence of use by the previous guests, if you know what I mean. We ended up cleaning it ourselves. I was surprised at the condition of the bath towels, a collection of almost thread-bare, mismatched towels. We had to ask for extra toilet paper, as there were only three rolls when we arrived for a nine-night stay. And the home needed more glasses and plates. With that said, Andres, the manager, was fantastically responsive when we reached out. Our complaints are shared mostly with the hope that a little more atttention to details will make this home even better than it is.

Good spot for a getaway
Stayed at this property for two nights, 3 adults and four kids, plenty of room for all. House was clean and well kept, owner is very responsive, let us check in a little bit earlier than originally stated. Beautiful views, lots of wildlife in the area, exactly what it says it is, secluded and quiet location with great views for a relaxing getaway. Only issue we had was WiFi was slow, but it’s to be expected given the location and if you are looking to getaway and recharge you should put the phone down and turn off the TV anyway. Would stay here again. Thanks for letting us use your property.

Rio Rico Hummingbird House
The house was perfect, clean, beds were comfortable and the views were amazing. We also enjoyed the wildlife. We put out bird seeds, sugar water for the hummingbirds and filled the bird bath, we loved watched all the different birds come and visit. We also saw roadrunners, quail, jack rabbits, cotton tails, lizards coyotes and javalinas. It truly was a great experience.

Dark skies, quiet, privacy
We chose this property based on location (dark skies) and the bedroom configuration (two adult couples). We hadn't stayed in the Rio Rico area before, and were unsure about the location, but it turned out to be ideal. It's close to birding areas, it's a pleasant drive to Sonoita for the wineries, and to the mission, Tubac, and the birding near Arivaca. There is a grocery store in Rio Rico. We loved the setting of the house: views in all directions were fantastic, and not a single car besides our own drove by the home the entire time we were there. The kitchen is well-equipped and had lots of extras we were free to use. The beds were very comfortable. We would recommend the addition of blackout blinds or drapes; both bedrooms face east and the sun rises early in late March/early April, and will be even earlier as spring progresses. We would suggest replacing the sofa--the cushions are not supportive and it's uncomfortable. A minor point, also, would be to add more wall decor. The white walls, floors, ceilings, furniture make the home sterile feeling rather than cozy and inviting, but perhaps that's just our taste. We enjoyed the outdoor areas, and the covered patio shielded us from the winds nicely. We were pleased to be able to park our car in the garage. Access to the home is on paved roads, and though they were steep in places, we had no problem as we might have had on the unpaved roads in rural areas we've rented if wet. All told, we had a wonderful stay! Thanks!

Peace and quiet at Hummingbird
We enjoyed this sweet home for a week as we explored Tubac and the area. The house was even better than advertised and Andres is a most gracious host. We chose it largely because of its location and were not disappointed with its solitary peacefulness, complete with beautiful sunsets and night skies. Shop for groceries in RioRico at the IGA; hike some local trails like Madera and Walker Canyons, visit historical sites and Sonoita/Elgin wineries. Of course shop in Tubac. Lots of things to enjoy here.
