A wonderful stay at Hotel Della Fortezza

We had an amazing experience at Hotel Della Fortezza! The unique atmosphere and historic setting made our stay truly special. What really stood out to us was the hotel’s strong commitment to sustainability — from eco-friendly practices to their focus on local, organic products. We especially loved the delicious locally produced food, which gave us a real taste of the region. It’s clear that the hotel values quality and the environment in everything they do. Highly recommended — definitely worth a visit!

The rooms, the service, and the place itself are outstanding—by far one of the best places I stayed at during my visit to the Tuscany region. Staying in a 12th century fortress is an experience that simply can't be missed. The room, staff and breakfast exceeded our expectations. The local walk about the small town is also fabulouse.

Loved the rooms, the rugs, the comfortable beds and beautiful views. The woman serving coffee in the breakfast area seemed stressed and a bit grumpy but the breakfast was delicious!

Why not stay in a castle when you have the chance?

We really liked our stay at the Fortezza. It is not luxurious, but it more than makes up for it with bucketloads of character. It is a great place from which to survey Sorano from above and to descend into its charming labyrinths. The associated restaurant in town was also really good.

We stayed one night and were enchanted with the fortress turned hotel in the heart of Sorano. Our room had amazing views of the surrounding town, the breakfast had fantastic coffee and a wide assortment of meats, cheeses, breads, and pastries. The owners tour of the underground wine cellars and wine making process capped off with a tasting was informative and delicious.

An absolute surprise, a gem in the middle of nowhere it seemed, but in reality, close to many different towns, and things to do. I don't normally rate 5 stars, but from the excellent meet to leaving, the entire staff was perfect. A five star meal, cupped with 5 star service, can not praise this place enough. A must while in Sorrano. Thank you all for my stay.

You cannot beat the setting: a 900-year-old fortress on the top of a hill! There is a great buffet breakfast available, but no restaurant on premises. The staff are friendly and dedicated.

This was a bucket list item - stay in a castle!! it was a real treat, the room was very clean, bed comfortable, great shower. Easy and free parking was a bonus, and so easy to walk around Sorano. The dinner was exceptional, definitely eat in their restaurant at least once. We would definitely stay here again.

We had a wonderful experience with our stay. Breakfast was definitely worthwhile, and we enjoyed the family friendly atmosphere of the stay. I loved staying in a castle too and having incredible views. While the bedroom was nothing flash, the bathroom was modern and renovated which is what you want! We also really enjoyed the fortress tour as well, we learnt a lot about how the fortress protected itself with tricks and traps.
