I loved my stay at Hotel Mar Rey! The location was very convenient and everything was close distance. The only downside is that since it’s right in the center of Tamarindo, it can get pretty noisy, especially at night. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay!

We loved staying here. The owners lived on site and it felt like staying with family. The location is super convenient with the shops and restaurants right outside the property and the beach beyond that. Although some things needed updating, everything was very clean. A happy place!

Beautiful exterior with nice plants and spiral staircases, and a pool area with nice new lounger. Right in the center of town. Just cross the street and you’re at the beach. There are lots of nice restaurants nearby and an Italian café that offers a nice breakfast across the street. Bathroom was a bit tight/cramped with one room in particular smaller than the other rooms we saw. Also, one screen door didn’t latch properly, but we were moved to another room with no issue. Overall a very nice stay.

Hotel Mar Rey was everything I hoped for and more. The location is unbeatable—right in the heart of Tamarindo and directly across the street from the beach with incredible sunsets every evening. The hotel was spotless, comfortable, and very affordable. The owners made me feel welcome and were incredibly helpful throughout my stay. I’ll absolutely be staying here again on my next trip to Costa Rica. Highly recommend!

Centrally located, close to all the shops, restaurants and most importantly the beach! The rooms could use some updates especially with the room door and sliders to keep critters out and the cool air in. The property is well maintained though.
