The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The window opens which is lovely but there is no screen. The restaurant is adequate but definitely not as good as it used to be. The breakfast had hashbrown patties instead of real potatoes like it used to be. Overall we will continue to stay when we feel a weekend at Tobin!

Fishing and Outdoor Recreation Destination

**Set your expectations before you book here** I am giving this hotel 5 stars. There are too many lesser reviews where the individuals leaving them did not do this. This is a small hotel in a northern resort community in Saskatchewan. The room is fine, it was very clean and everything worked as expected. The bathroom was clean. There are no elevators. Tobin Lake is fishing resort in the summer and a snowmobile and ice fishing destination in the winter. There are lots of blue collar down to earth people here. Mostly men. The bar will be busy on a Saturday night. There will be music. There may be the odd hoot or holler. It’s all to be expected here. Do not expect the Shorebird Inn to be something that it isn’t. If you do that you will enjoy your stay!

Pros: hotel is in a great location right on the water. The rooms are large. Cons: the rooms are on top of the bar and the music is loud enough to be a constant night time disturbance. Worse, when the bar closes, get ready for noisy, drunk people waking you up with yelling, fighting, and domestic disturbance. It was not possible to get a good night's sleep on the weekend in this place! Terrible: BED BUGS!!! On the first night of our stay, I was awakened by a drunk woman yelling in the hall. I felt something on my neck...it was a BED BUG! I caught it in a tissue and looked very closely to verify. This is an absolute deal breaker...stay away!

The view of the lake was awesome. Door lock to apartment could be more secure with a dead bolt.

The lake in front is beautiful! The rooms were clean and the property was overall well maintained. It is older and requires some updating. Our room was right above the bar, so it was difficult to sleep.

We stayed here over a month ago and found bedbugs in one room and the other person found bed bugs later in their stuff. The staff was friendly but we had to find a new place to stay but yet we were charged for the room. The owner was not as friendly and just seemed annoyed on the phone about it. The staff said the owner would make things right, but I have emailed twice now, wondering about why we were charged the full amount and never heard back. I won't go out of my way to keep asking about it. Lack of communication and lack of caring led to this bad review. I highly recommend finding somewhere else to stay.

Alternative stay

Needed a short notice stay since other hotel forgot to inform us about no pets until day of arrival. The Shorebird inn was an alright alternative. Overall comfortable stay but was charged twice once through Hotels and again at check in, hopefully all works out.

The owner and staff were great. The food at the restaurant was awesome. We did stay over the weekend and they had a dj entertainment which was a bit loud when trying to sleep. But otherwise the experience was great. Our guide that the hotel set us up with was very good and made our trip one to remember. (Thx Manny) Will book again next year.

Our room was not cleaned. The bed was slept in, garbage in the garbage cans and dirty towels hanging over the bathtub. The owners son/bartender punched a customer. He also said some very racist words towards some aboriginal ladies. Other hotel guests were very loud all through the night.We couldnt even get our full refund back after the owner said we could. We will never stay here again or support this business in anyway!
