Containing a range of intriguing artifacts from the Korean War, this impressive building has the country’s freedom and peace at is heart.

Visit the UN Peace Memorial Hall, which pays tribute to the United Nations Forces that participated in the Korean War. Its welcoming architecture symbolizes world peace. The building is a hub of activities and events relating to the UN and its goal of global harmony. Admire the impressive structure, which was inaugurated in 2014 and stretches across five stories.

Make your way through the four exhibition halls filled with relics from the Korean War. You’ll find old letters, loose tobacco and suitcases from the war, which took place in the 1950s. Watch a movie about the Korean War in the impressive 4-D theater. Learn how the United Nations sided with South Korea, while its northern adversary was backed by China and the Soviet Union.

Study the models of important battle scenes and try to understand the sacrifices made by UN soldiers in Korea. Inspect the inspiring photos from the battlefields of the Nakdong River and Jangjinho that make up the collection called This is War.

Complement your visit with a trip to the nearby UN Memorial Cemetery. Its scenic gardens and pond create a serene and reflective setting amid thousands of graves. See the sculpture of a lion and the large curved white wall commemorating the military personnel who gave their lives.

Note that the building is open to the public Tuesday through Sunday from morning until late afternoon. The site, which is free to enter, hosts educational programs and events that inspire international cooperation and unity. The complex also has an observatory and a convention hall.

Find the UN Peace Memorial Hall in the Nam-gu district in the southeastern part of Busan. Ride a bus to the stop near the UN Park (UN Gongwon) and walk to the site. Travel around the area for other nearby highlights such as the Busan Daeyeon Church, the UN Memorial Cemetery and the Geumdong Bodhisattva.
