The Shire is close to all the shops downtown, and even has a market across the street. There’s a view slot a small river as well. Staff was very friendly. Negatives were a bathroom door that was very difficult to close properly, only half a roll of TP with no extras in the room, no tissues, etc… Very bare bones.

The room was just okay. There wasn’t a refrigerator in the room, although it was a listed amenity. We had to request one. The front desk wasn’t always responsive when called. The washing machine on one level wasn’t working properly and there was no laundry product vending machines available. The hallways were not heated. There was trash and soiled towels in the hallway from an adjoining room that was never picked up by housekeeping for many days after it was left out. The were partially filled or empty bottles of toiletries that were supposed to be included amenities. The stated premium bedding wasn’t. Overall, we felt that it wasn’t a good stay.
