Norway Ski Vacations

Beautiful old hotel. Nicely refurbished

Let's start with the positives. The staff vas helpfult and good. The breakfast was one of the best ones I have had in a hotel, but the deserts are just way to sweet, cut down on the sugar guys. The gym is very good and has everything you need for a nice exercise. The pool and sauna is nice but unfortunately very greedy and stupid to charge extra to use them. The hotel is already expensive and off location as it is, at least you should have the pool and sauna included in the price like every other hotel on planet earth, whats the point in visiting this hotel otherwise if you need to pay extra for almost everything except the room? Overall I would rate it a strong 3.5 because of the nice breakfast and staff.

The location is quiet and historic, by the large ski jump used in the Olympics years ago. And on a hill above Oslo. It is near (walkable) a train into the city for commuting. There are very many lovely and cozy public areas to curl up by a fire, and even a library. The included breakfast buffet was very good with many hot and cold choices. The reception staff, especially Tommy, who checked us in, was very friendly and helpful. He even led us a short distance to show us the stairs. There is a sauna, but the outdoor pool, which was still open Sept. 12, was too cold for swimming. Our room had a spacious outdoor area. This is a fine hotel and less expensive than in central Oslo.

1.) First, the room was extremely cold, as low as 16C. During the day, the temp would go up to 20C but at night, it would drop. 2. The bathroom smelled of sewer, when asked to change, “hotel is full.” 3. Requested three different times to have room made up with new towels. Never happened. I have stayed at this property at last 8 times. This is the first issue of any kind.
