Rab Island Ski Vacations

Zonar Zagreb is a nice hotel. The concept is definitely eclectic and borders on “weird,” but we’re not ones to judge that, and we actually enjoyed that aspect of the hotel. We also really enjoyed the gym, and the bed was comfortable. That said, there were a few hiccups during our stay. Upon arrival, we noticed that the room had only one towel, no bath/shower mat, and there was no conditioner or soap available either in the shower or at the sink. We called reception, and the towel issue was resolved fairly quickly. However, the soap was only provided the following day, despite us arriving around 3 PM, while the conditioner was never provided at all. Another reason we chose this hotel was the pool. Unfortunately, the pool was reserved for a large group from 3 PM to 9 PM on both days of our stay. On top of that, the music from the event continued loudly well beyond those hours. This was disappointing, especially since access to the pool was one of the factors we considered when booking the hotel. The pool water was also extremely cold, as it is not heated, which made it difficult to enjoy even when the pool was available. Overall, we didn't dislike the hotel, particularly the comfortable bed, gym, and unique design, but the room-service oversights and limited pool access significantly affected our experience. As a result, we would hesitate to recommend this hotel. N.B: it is relatively far from Zagreb's historical center but we knew that so that is on us.

Room was perfectly maintained, with daily cleanups and changes of towels and bathroom items. One of the items which most hotels do not offer any longer is the fact that they provide slippers for walking inside the room. Very useful and convenient to avoid walking in shoes inside the room and bathroom (good hygiene approach). Staff were very friendly. And here is one exceptional proof of it: when we left hotel and went to airport, I realized I forgot my mobile phone in the taxi. In panic, I called the hotel from the airport and they were able to locate the taxi driver, bring him back and return the mobile before our flight out of Zagreb! Location was perfect, in the middle of city. Very convenient or walking. We even managed to walk from hotel to Croatian National Theatre (HNK) to watch a ballet one evening.

Decent breakfast included, pleasant staff… especially nice bar staff. The only thing is, the standard for cleaning the rooms need to be higher .
