“We stayed in the Garden Cottage for a week and cannot recommend it for longer stays. While the property manager responded to our texts and generally sent maintenance within 24 hours, the property suffers from poor upkeep and temporary fixes. Our issues started at check-in when our entry code failed, and no one answered the phone, forcing us to communicate solely via text. Upon entry, the unit smelled strongly of marijuana, the bedroom closet door was broken, and a ceiling fan blade was hanging……

“Host always responded to messages although we couldn't always fix the issue. Interior was clean but could use some maintenance, wobbly furniture, chipping paint, loose trim. Quaint and simple-everything is mismatch- no two forks or spoons or cups were the same. There were games in the closet and plenty of towels and pillows. Would have been nice to have some basic cleaning rags and spray. Plenty of outdoor seating and beach toys, but also cans and spent firework trash was on the property.”

“Unfortunately we would not return to this house. We loved the proximity to beach and the lake view from the upstairs bedroom, and appreciated the upstairs AC unit. That was about all we were able to enjoy… the place was very dirty, dishes weren’t clean, throw blankets were not washed and had awful smells. Shower was small with no soap, shampoo, etc. There were SO many bugs both outside and inside, which I’m sure is just a seasonal May thing and not the property owner’s fault. However, there were……

“Only one burner works on stove, sheets in one bedroom has stains across it. Sent images to chat. Nothing to wash dishes with. There was soap but no sponge or rag. Could have had the porch and floors swept better ... I understand its a beach house but the amount of sand was a little much. No broom to at least brush the porch down to help with the tracking into the cottage. The link to the guidebook didn't work...a hard copy binder would be helpful.”

“Place was so dirty we switched to another location after one night. Found a dead mouse in the drain of the kitchen sink.”

“Wonderful location very impressed with cabin”

“Nobody there to check in with. I’m actually kind of glad because after walking around the property, it was definitely ran down. I reached out through Expedia, trying to check in, and didn’t receive a message back until the next day. I drove down the street and got a better room for the same price. Maybe it was because it was off-season, but I would never stay here based on walking around the property and seeing all the repairs that it needed.”
