About this property

Entire place

Noddfa - A romantic Snowdonia country cottage.

Noddfa is a traditional 1843 built Welsh country cottage in the heart of Snowdonia close to Betsw-y-Coed in the beautiful Machno Valley. Noddfa means sanctuary or haven and this is exactly what our lovely cottage offers. It is a well equipped and very comfortably furnished property. It has a large, cosy sitting room with traditional wood burner; large Welsh slate floored dining kitchen with dishwasher, microwave and delightful open fire; downstairs toilet; small south facing private sun trap garden; double master bedroom with exposed beams and oak stripped floorboards; small second bedroom with three foot adult sized bunks; modern bathroom with walk in shower cubicle. Noddfa is very well equipped with traditional Portmeirion crockery and high quality fixtures and fittings. It is fully centrally heated. The cottage also has good speed wi-fi. It is in the peaceful Welsh village of Penmachno, very close to the friendly local pub (closed Monday and Tuesday) serving food at weekends and a well stocked village shop. There is a parking space outside the garden which is usually free but there is plenty of parking in the village if not. It is ideally placed for walking, cycling or simply relaxing. Please note there is very limited public transport (which also changes with the seasons) to and from the village so a car is needed.

Fantastic
Myself, my husband and 7 year old daughter loved staying here. It is very cosy. Everything you need is here, the owners provide everything and more. Great location. Parking isn’t great but it didn’t bother us to park up the road a little and walk down. Overall brilliant cottage

Lovely cottage. Great location.
Penmachno has a welcoming feel as soon as you enter. It is an old cottage with modern living. The log fire warms you nicely on chillier evenings. The pub opposite is friendly. The food smelt good though we didn’t eat there. It’s easy to get to the coast near Criccieth and Porthmadog, the Snowdon start points and Betws y Coed is very close with some testing walks featuring superb views. Recommended.

Lovely stay!
We had such a lovely stay here! The location was amazing and the house had everything we needed and more. We also loved how kid-friendly it was. One thing worth mentioning, there were quite a lot of air fresheners used in this home. For someone sensitive to fragrance or chemicals it may be an issue. Otherwise this house was perfect and relaxing, and the area was stunning. We look forward to visiting again!

Wonderful area, great cottage
A lovely, cosy cottage in a beautiful area. Spotlessly clean and really well equipped with everything you need. Everything has clear instructions (heating, tv, directions etc) too so it’s all very easy and stress free A super base for exploring the mountains - spectacular views. There’s a village shop about 50 yards away which has a decent selection for a little shop.

Cosy Cottage
Property was in a good location for visiting sites in North Wales. The cottage was spotlessly clean with a lovely large shower. It was also very well equipped with everything you could possibly need for a stay. Only small point was the second bedroom was not really suitable for a third adult due to it’s size and bunk beds.

I loved the property, even more so the village. the only down fall was it smelt of sheep in the utility area of the cottage. It was very well equipped with everything that was needed. The possibilities of renting again are very high.

Had a perfect stay here, the cottage was well equipped and very homely. Would definitely recommend this beautiful cottage. Only thing was the parking was Street parking and not always available near the property, but that was only a minor thing and still had a great holiday.

Photos don't do it justice! The cottage is simply beautiful!
We had a great stay over Christmas. Cottage was very clean, beds comfortable. Extremely well equipped with good quality items ( plates, mugs, pots, cutlery ect), tastefully decorated for Christmas. Situated in the middle of quiet village with a small local shop, pub and a play ground near by.

Lovely Cottage in a quiet village
The cottage is very well equipped, clean and comfortable. The village is very quiet. The pub does not open on Mondays or Tuesdays which was unfortunate as that's when we were there! There is a shop about 50 Metres away so there is no need to drive to the next village to find groceries (like we did!). There is lots to do in the local area.
