Explore Ocean City, starting with Maryland’s iconic Ocean City Boardwalk and its many attractions. Have fun on roller coasters and bumper cars at Trimper Rides or stroll along with ice cream and ocean views. Visit the Ocean City Life-Saving Station Museum to learn about the history of the coastal playground.
Head inland to Showell and Berlin and shop at antique and jewelry stores. At the Calvin B. Taylor Museum, learn stories of Berlin, with exhibits including African American heritage and the racehorse Seabiscuit.
Enjoy surfing and swimming at Assateague Island, where wild horses roam free across the white sand. The national seashore features spectacular hiking trails. Explore by bike, with dedicated pathways showcasing panoramic water views. You’ll find a range of launching spots for kayaks and canoes.
Move on to Snow Hill to step back in time while shopping and gallery-hopping. The Furnace Town Historic Site offers a collection of 19th-century artisan studios and buildings, along with stories of Furnace Town. Visit the quaint Julia A. Purnell Museum to admire some of her 1,000 pieces of crewel embroidery and other items from the Victorian era.
Near Snow Hill, the Beach to Bay Indian Trail is a driving and biking trail along Nassawango Creek Preserve, which offers fantastic kayaking through the wilderness. At Crisfield, Janes Island State Park offers access to the beautiful Chesapeake Bay. To the north, visit Princess Anne, with about 300 buildings registered as national places.
The Blue Crab Scenic Byway travels about 250 miles (400 kilometers) between Princess Anne and Ocean City on the Atlantic Ocean, creating a loop roughly the shape of a crab. Allow time for multiple stops at fascinating attractions along the way.
