Friendly staff. Nice bar area

The hotel and room were fine, staff friendly so no issues with any of that. What let the hotel down was the food service and quality. Had a bar meal on the Sunday night - Fish and Chips, the fish was decent but only got around 10-15 chips and the smallest ramekin of peas I've ever seen. Partner got the Chicken Tikka Curry which she wasn't impressed with, suspected it might have been frozen. However the real low point was breakfast, which can only be described as chaotic. Must've seen only about 3 staff tryin to cater for around 70 customers. They ran out of orange juice which wasn't replaced. Waited 5 mins for beans which were stone cold. Other issues too, very disappointing

The stay was lovely, and property was historic and beautiful! They offered afternoon cake & tea, and a lovely breakfast every day. I do wish there were a few additional small details / services available, for example room service, a butler to help with the bags, different types of coffee that the breakfast staff could make (instead of doing it yourself with the coffee machine). I do understand and appreciate that it’s a smaller inn, and more peaceful because of that.
