"great but small"

"Beautiful hotel with stunning grounds, pools and beach. We chose to swim at the beach, such a lovely setting, and the sea was warm. The pools appeared to be unheated. The rooms were quite tired for a 5 star hotel, but our garden view room was comfortable, quiet and not overlooked. The hotel was spotlessly clean throughout. The half board option was excellent value and the evening meal choice, with waiter service, fabulous. The only thing that let the hotel down was breakfast, which was very limited for a hotel of this size. The standard scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, plus cold meats and cheese, and lots of cake! The smoked salmon was very good though... Reception staff were efficient and friendly, and kindly helped us with a couple of issues during our stay. We took advantage of the useful free shuttle into Porto Cervo one day, a 2 hour visit was probably all that was needed, although we stayed longer. Plenty of parking in the hotel grounds and the road outside. We thoroughly enjoyed out three nights at the hotel, thank you Colonna Resort! "

"We had originally booked a room with pool views, but upon arrival we were delighted with a free upgrade to a beautiful apartment since it was available. Such a wonderful gesture that made our stay even more special! We truly enjoyed every moment of our time at the hotel. The staff were always kind and attentive, helping us with information about tours and local restaurants, which made our experience even better. Breakfast was exceptional, with delicious homemade cakes and a great variety of tasty options each morning. The location is perfect, and the views from the terrace are simply breathtaking. On top of that, the hotel offers free parking, which is a great plus. We had an amazing stay and highly recommend this place!"

"A truly wonderful property. Charming, delightful and well equipped. Craftsmanship exuded from every corner. We were 4 active but older adults from the USA, one with knee and hip problems and he managed the steps just fine albeit a little slowly. The pool was excellent, large enough to swim and have fun in, close to the house yet totally secluded from it and any other nearby property. While the house has all the modern conveniences, it retains its vintage charm in most areas and stands out well because of that. The local area has some good restaurants within walking distance, and many others are a very short drive away. The location is excellent, close to all that you might want to do in the area. The caretaker spoke English well enough to communicate easily, and could not have been more charming, informative and accommodating. The Internet worked well. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Excellent value for the Costa Smerelda. Highly recommended."

" We traveled as a family of four (my wife and our two grown sons) and were extremely disappointed with this stay. Communication with the representative, Marco Soddu from Happy Rentals, was almost nonexistent. Apart from sending the check-in instructions, he completely disappeared — none of my follow-up questions during our four-day stay were answered. The apartment itself lacked the most basic amenities and essentials. There was only one bath towel and one pillow per person, no extra bed sheets or covers, and not even basic kitchen supplies — no spoons, only old knives and forks, no iron or ironing board, no detergents, and no bathroom amenities. It felt like checking into an empty shell. To make matters worse, the nearest supermarket is about a 20-minute drive away, which made it very inconvenient. Parking was another frustration: the space is extremely tight, and if the adjacent spots are occupied, it’s nearly impossible to get in or out of the car. Overall, the lack of communication and the poor condition of the apartment made this a very disappointing experience. I would not recommend this property unless significant improvements are made. "
