Riverside Retreat

Beautiful, serene, private riverfront setting on the main channel of the Withlacoochee River and the start of Lake Rousseau. Perfect for vacationing adults or adults with older children (ages 10 - 17) who want to escape the hustle and bustle and relax. Enjoy a natural Florida setting with private dock, fire pit, complimentary fishing poles and both sit in touring kayaks and sit on top fishing kayaks. Plenty of room in the large river front yard to challenge your family and friends to a game of corn hole, croquet or lawn darts.
The Withlacoochee is a natural setting for kayaking .The Rainbow river in Dunnellon is approximately 3 miles upstream by kayak.
Bring your boat for some of the best bass fishing in Central Florida. A public Boat ramp is 500 yards away, or just throw your line in off your private dock.
Just 5-10 minutes to Dunnellon for riverside dining at the Blue Gator or Swampy's.
Visit Dunnellon's antique and thrift stores or go to the popular Rainbow River for boating, swimming, tubing or kayaking. Dunnellon's Rainbow Springs State Park is also a popular attraction. There is a scenic bicycle/walking trail from Dunnellon to Inverness. Fifteen minutes to Crystal River with numerous restaurants, scalloping, snorkeling, scuba diving, manatee tours and charter boat fishing. Seventeen miles to Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park. The World Equestrian Center is 30 min away in Ocala for professional equestrian events that are open free to the public.
This is 1200 sq. ft. of cozy home atmosphere with covered porch, oak floors, granite counter and vanity tops. Television in living room and sitting area off kitchen. Furnished with linens and towels. Fully equipped kitchen, outdoor gas grill, separate refrigerator with freezer for your bait and fish. Washer and dryer.
Host lives on adjacent property and is available for questions or concerns.

What a wonderful property. We spent Thanksgiving at the Riverside Retreat and enjoyed it so much. The house was clean and stocked with everything I needed to cook our thanksgiving dinner. The host, Susan, is super attentive and wonderful. Overall great stay.

Love Riverside Retreat

This was our second visit to Riverside Retreat, and we love everything about it! The house is located on a beautiful river that is full of wildlife. We saw beautiful birds and turtles. The house is super clean and comfortable. The owners are the best. Susie and Harvey live next door and were super helpful in answering all our questions and with suggestions on places to visit. They really made us feel welcome. We have rented many VRBO homes, but Riverside Retreat is the best house we have rented. We can't wait to return next year. Thank you, Susie and Harvey for a great week at your beautiful home!

Relaxing and beautiful view of the river!!

This property was very clean and well stocked with everything you could possibly need. We totally enjoyed our stay. We kayaked and went fishing on the river. There is an abundance of things to do in the area: great restaurants. Hiking trails and several parks. Susan went above and beyond to make our stay very enjoyable.

Relaxing stay on the river!

We had an amazing stay at Susan’s place this week! The house was probably the cleanest and most well maintained home we’ve ever stayed in. You can tell that a lot of thought and care is put into the home. The modern kitchen and bathrooms were very nice! We loved being able to use the provided kayaks and they were very easy to put in at the dock. We enjoyed paddling around the river, relaxing on the porch and visiting nearby Rainbow Springs. The owners are so nice and went out of their way to accommodate us. We would love to visit again in the future!

Beautiful!

We loved our stay at Riverside Retreat! The home is light and airy with a fantastic porch. We spent a lot of time on the porch relaxing, enjoying the river view. The house is spotless and has everything we needed for our stay. Susan is terrific to work with, and was helpful with the house and suggestions for things to do and places to visit. Wonderful Withlacoochee Home

We enjoyed all aspects of our stay. The home was comfortable and had everything we needed. We loved the view of the river, the available kayaks, the bike and hiking trails nearby, and especially the kindness and hospitality of the hosts who lived next door.

Beautiful retreat with every wish anticipated

What a wonderful stay! The place is spotlessly clean, beautiful and right on the river. The owners are spectacular; every detail was thought out - for example, they had kayaks and fishing poles easily accessible and even stocked up on firewood! The kayaks alone saved us a lot of money as we would have had to rent them in town on a holiday weekend.

Fishermen’s Paradise

The location is beautiful and perfectly situated on the river. Always a shaded dock with breeze and views of the river and beautiful wildlife in the yard and in the river. The Bass fishing is world class. I caught two 11 lb and one 9 and 3 over 8 and a bunch more while there. The owners gave me tips on where to go to fish and put me right on the fish. The owners are wonderful people and we enjoyed so much meeting them. The dock had a safe place to slip my boat and power available for charging at night. It is exactly what you want if you want to experience Florida bass fishing at its best!

Gem of a find in central Florida

I almost don't want to share how much we loved our stay at the Riverside Retreat so we can keep this gem to ourselves! This could not be more restful and rejuvenating spot. The home is airy, open and very clean. Furnishings are comfortable and kitchen is well appointed. Beds are very comfortable! The property is riverfront with a dock and kayak access to paddling, boating, fishing and general enjoyment of this pristine section of water. Nature lovers and water enthusiasts will particularly enjoy this spot. The owners are friendly and helpful, checked in with us regularly and helped make our stay relaxing and memorable. We feel we left with new friends made and a place we will want to return to again and again!

Everything was excellent, wonderful experience

Susan, Harvy and Gordon are one of a kind, lovely, attentive and thoughtful hosts. They met us, chatted with us and considered our specific interests and suggested lovely activities that suited our family perfectly. Their family has been stewards of this river for 50+ years and have fascinating stories to tell. The house is very clean, newly remodeled, well-furnished and thoughtfully equipped. We kayaked to the beautiful wildlife area that is across the river from the house. The area is stunning with birds, turtles and wildlife! We had the pleasure of spotting some gators down river and taking a swim (much further down, not near the gators!). There is a perfect firepit set up in the yard. Gordon helped my sons catch fish off their big deck with the poles that are also provided. Susan has considered every detail you would need. She even has metal hotdog/marshmallow sticks for the fire! This was an experience we will treasure forever. Thank you, all, you are a wonderful family.

Absolutely Fantastic

Wow! What an amazing time we had. Sherry and her husband went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time. We made use of the kayaks and had so much fun on the river. The house is so clean and exactly what you see in the pictures. This is a quiet and peaceful part of the river. Just the peace and quiet we needed to rejuvenate ourselves. Paradise by the river

My husband and I had a great time. The home was clean, and we did not lack anything. The owners are helpful and so sweet, if we needed anything all we had to do was ask. They helped us with attractions and restaurants in area. The bed is so comfortable! honestly there is nothing negative here. Relaxing by the river was just what we needed! We are already planning our next time in the fall and bringing our family! we plan to fish this time! There are poles and kayaks already there to use!

A Dunnellon Dream

If you are looking for a nice quiet weekend on the river this is the perfect house! The house was in excellent condition equipped with everything you could possibly need including multiple kayaks which we used frequently to explore the beautiful Withlacoochie river. Susan and her husband Harvey are the perfect hosts and made sure we had everything we needed during our stay! The location is perfectly situated and only a short trip to the beautiful springs. We will definitely be back to experience this gem! 10/10

An Amazing Property!

Don't hesitate to reserve this home! It is a true 5 star listing. Susan & Harvey, the owners, have taken exceptional care in creating a dream home on the water. From the beautiful hardwood floors, to top-end appliances in the kitchen, stonework and tile bathrooms and fine linens. They even have wood for the fire pit. Enjoy coffee on the dock or on the porch in the mornings and watch the beautiful sunsets in the evening. It is so peaceful and a wonderful retreat! We will be back! Nikki & Mike

Relaxing on River

The entire family throughly enjoyed our stay. Hosts are ever so helpful and friendly. They provided kayaks and life jackets of top quality to paddle down the spring fed River. There is also a dock and plenty of fishing equipment. House is perfect dish TV and WI-FI and as clean as a whistle! All equipment was brand new: washer/dryer, dishwasher, refrigerator, and TVs. Future guests don’t mess it up we’re coming back. Great location near at least a dozen fine restaurants - seafood on the River, wonderful Cuban food! Great Greek for lunch. Took my Waverunner up the River to Rainbow Springs incredibly clear water and lots of friendly locals. My girls enjoyed the art and antique shops. There is even a small boat ramp only a block away. We loved it and will return soon.

Excellent place to stay and rest. If you love nature this is the right place to be. Beautiful river at the back of the property and the owner is real gold. Helpful and always ready to assist you in case you need it. Many interesting sites at just min from there and if you like to fish and be away from the noise of the city no better place than this. Beautiful Place, Great Amenities

This is a beautiful place to visit. We were here for 3/nights and it was great! We loved all of the amenities, from sitting around the fire pit to sitting on the dock, to paddling around the islands on Lake Rousseau. We even saw an alligator paddle by while kayaking and a huge, friendly, cooter turtle visited us on the deck our first morning! There are loads of fish, if you want, you can fish off the dock or bring your own boat to the launch down the road. We are not fish people but that is an option. It was really nice to be able to do laundry without having to drag it to a laundromat. The kitchen had every amenity you could need. This place is a nice quiet rural getaway and the closest town and restaurants are about a 5-10 minute drive, or a 20 minute drive into Chrystal River. Our hosts were so sweet and thoughtful.
