The Reynolds Homestead, built in 1943 is in a beautiful foothill setting. Hardin Reynolds and his wife produced 16 children here, the most famous being RJ Reynolds who migrated to Winston Salem, NC to start the tobacco empire of the same name. The catalpa tree in the foreground still remains from the earliest days of the homestead.

"House its self was clean, but curtains were thin,and no blinds. No night lights at all, woke up at 430 am to pitch black, and had to feel the walls to find the door. Family complained the water smelled awful. I thought there were too many pillows, but we threw them on the floor. Outside was bad, house was right beside the road,but with a drop down from the road of maybe 50 ft. Then right behind the house there was a a steep drop off that had partly slid down hill, taking part of driveway with...

It was comfy, warm, and exactly as shown on the VRBO app. I did bring some of my own kitchen tools, but found the place well set up and I was able to easily prep for the dishes I bring. "We were looking for a quiet, serene oasis in a rural setting to recharge. We found it at Old Mills Farm. The property exceeded our expectations. Pride of ownership was evident from the moment we entered this quaint but upscaled home. Many extras to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable - comfortable seating in dining and living rooms, well equipped kitchen (with quality flatware, linens, appliances and cookware), beautiful bathroom (equipped with sample toiletries and quality towels). We enjoyed our breakfast on the back terrace. Great middle ground to visit the rail trails in Mount Airy and Galax. Communication with our Host, Lori, was excellent. Would love to visit again!"

"Overall, great stay!!! Pre-stay communication was spot-on with the info provided. Not that the hosts could do anything about it, but the weather was spectacular. Proximity to the Blue Ridge Parkway is outstanding. The cabin itself is well appointed and cozy. It has a great variety of kitchen ware, I did not need anything extra with a 3 night stay and making all my food there at the cabin. The bed was so comfortable (downstairs) and the tub was a treat. Would 100% stay again"
