Emerald Cove at Smith Lake: 7BR house, sleeps 18+, beautiful channel views!

Named for the crystal clear surrounding waters, Emerald Cove is one of the premier rentals available at Lewis Smith Lake. Specifically designed to accommodate multiple families, retreats, and large groups, this home is the perfect setting to relax and unwind.

The home is situated in Brushy Creek in Arley, located at the end of a channel in a cove which provides both beautiful, scenic views and calm waters for easy swimming and kayaking that is uninterrupted by boat wakes (ideal for children!)

PLEASE NOTE: we do NOT allow events such as weddings, etc. Please do not inquire about hosting events at our home.

The space
Featuring 3 different levels, extensive outdoor entertaining spaces, and beautiful views, this 5,000 sq ft lakefront home comfortably hosts and sleeps 20.

Built in 2020, the home has all new amenities and furnishings throughout. The main floor and second floor both have expansive, open concept areas perfect for entertaining and hosting large groups. A third floor living space + second bunk room provides a great area for kids. The home also features extensive outdoor entertaining areas, including a screened porch with gas fireplace, an outdoor kitchen + grill, and a large fire pit situated at the edge of a rock point that looks out on the channel. Unlike many homes at Smith Lake, this house has a gentle slope down to the water- only a few stairs to walk down to reach the dock! Enjoy Bluetooth-connectivity surround sound in both indoor and outdoor spaces that you can use to play music from your phone. On a clear night, stargaze using our Celestron Astromaster telescope.

*While we do keep our personal boat in the dock slip for most of the year, guests are welcome to bring their own boat/rent a boat and tie it off to the dock for the duration of their stay as the home is located in a no wake zone.

- Easily accessible concrete parking pad in front of home for multiple vehicles
- Grocery store and local coffee shop only 6 minutes away; Duncan Bridge Marina is 10 minutes from the home
- Please note: while we do typically offer wifi to our guests, there is not extremely fast internet available in our area of the lake and it is not guaranteed to be available (ie, you will likely have difficulty streaming shows, no on-line gaming, but when it is working typical daily web browsing/email/etc should work just fine albeit a bit slow!) As this is a rural area, internet and cell service is NOT always dependable and can take several days to get serviced if it goes down- please take this into account when considering booking at our property!

With Bankhead National Forest within a thirty minute drive of the home, excellent hiking is nearby. Recommended trails include:
- Sougahoagdee Falls:
- Caney Creek Falls Trail
- We recommend downloading and using the Alltrails app to find local trails that are the length and level that you desire!

Other beautiful outdoor activities include:
- Visit Rickwood Caverns. Hiking trails and tours of subterranean caverns and tunnels.
- Visit Dismals Canyon: has waterfalls and bioluminescent glowworms that light up on the guided night tours (night tours are by reservation).
- Visit Hurricane Creek Park in Falkville- unique rock formation, waterfalls, and hiking trails.
- Participate in nearby geocaching- download the Geocaching app by Groundspeak inc and use your cell phone maps function to explore and hunt for treasures
- Hike in Natural Bridge Park in Haleyville to see beautiful natural stone arches.
- Visit Rock Creek Marina by car or by boat- you can purchase food and feed the fish directly from their dock.

Wonderful getaway spot!
Our family gathered for a 6-day reunion at the house. It was perfect for multiple ages and activities. We especially appreciated the wonderfully well-equipped kitchen and pantry, the child safety features on the porch and in the house, the fire pit, and the general comfort of the place! It's clear that the owners use the house and have set it up to be enjoyed by others. We enjoyed the pool table and kayaks. We'd recommend it highly to any group, especially one with older relatives who need to be on one level and small children.

This home was a meet-in-the-middle for our extended family to gather and celebrate our grandfathers 90th birthday! We looked forward to this trip since the spring and it did not disappoint. Our days as the lake were warm for December and the kids enjoyed playing outside so much. We came very prepared to cook for a crowd, but Jessica has stocked this kitchen well!! Even great leftover containers which was so helpful. The gate on the porch was great too for our adventurous toddlers who would have been harder to corral without it. It was wonderful and will be a memory that we’ll treasure. Thanks to Jessica and family for hosting us!

Emeral Cove was just WOW!!!
Ten years ago when our mother passed away, the six if us siblings and spouses decided to make a concerted effort to get together each year by renting a house for a few days to accommodate all of us. Emeral Cove significantly surpasses all of our other rentals thus far! The view is amazing...at sunrise, mid day and sun set! Some of us simply enjoyed to water view, while others dove in to the chilly May temperatures and others took the kayak out for a run around the lake. The location is also perfect for hiking, table games, movies, reading, etc. There was something for each of us to enjoy while we were there! The 5000 foot house has more than enough bedrooms and bathrooms to meet our needs and plenty of inside and outside places for us to gather in groups for reminiscing or for some time of solitude. The house is well appointed with every amenity imaginable, but the kitchen is especially well stocked, filled with all that one needs for cooking and grilling! Jessica patiently answered every question we had before arriving and proved to be the ideal host! We could not have asked for better. The six of us and our spouses left, determined that Emerald Cove will be a place we WILL gather again!

Fantastic weekend stay!
This was the perfect place for our young married couple’s retreat. Our group of 16 had plenty of room to spread out or gather together as a group. The kitchen was well stocked with supplies and had space for everyone to eat together. The beds were comfortable. The home included a huge assortment of activities that we thoroughly enjoyed. Being able to use the kayaks and paddle boards was amazing. Thank you, Jessica, for providing this wonderful retreat home. We loved every minute of our stay!

Incredible House and Host
Jessica’s house is nothing short of incredible. The house is located in a quite area with one of the most beautiful view’s of Smith Lake. Large and open with every amenity you can imagine, the house comfortably accommodated our family of 17 with ease. Jessica thought of everything, as we not only enjoyed the peaceful, beautiful setting, but also everything else about the house, ranging from pool table, air hockey, fishing and the fire pit, which was a blast for the kids roasting marshmallows. The beds were extremely comfortable and the bathrooms/showers/kitchen very spacious and clean, as was everything else in the house. The only problem we had was we were not there long enough, just the weekend, which you really would want more time to enjoy Jessica’s beautiful place. Lake house Paradise
We just spent a long weekend at this beautiful house with our adult kids and grandkids. There were 18 of us and it was very comfortable. The house is clean and stocked with so many amenities. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare meals. Fire pit is great for gathering and S’mores. The kids loved the kayaks and paddle boats and fishing off the dock. Enough TVs and Living space to have more than one game playing on a Saturday afternoon. Porch’s overlooking lake had rockers and the upstairs deck has cozy swings to curl up in with a book. We normally do beach trips and this was a nice change and we had more time together with plenty to do onsite. We only left for a few groceries. One of our favorite getaways.

Close to perfect!
It is so hard to find a place under 1 roof for a large family. Everything about the house fit our needs. The location (great for kids swimming and kids fishing), interior (a bed for everyone), kitchen & eating (a seat for everyone and still space to spread out). Next time we will do a better job on our part with checkin times and check out times. Was difficult with families that flew in because we had to empty the car to take and then hurry home to grab our things so people flying in were stuck at airport for 3 hrs just to accommodate. But we'll do better next time. Just a lovely place and location on the lake was gorgeous. We were all thankful! We had a blast and make more lifetime memories to leave with littles!

Great house - lacks nothing!
We were here for 5 days with three families with 12 kids total, ranging from 2-11. This house was perfect. There is nothing lacking from space, toys, games, kayak, paddle boards, kitchen supplies, etc. The bigger kids loved the two bunk rooms and we had more than enough room for everyone. Our only suggestion is consider an ice maker, but a quick run to Dollar General for bags of ice is not a big inconvenience. We had one small plumbing issue during our stay and the host had it taken care of within a couple of hours! Couldn’t ask for a better house or setup - great house, great space, great lake and I hope we’ll be back again!
