8.6/10 Excellent! (1,000 reviews)
The positives: quiet location with peaceful views of the river; modern hotel key cards and secured buildings; TV with cable (but not HD). Unique original room details such as the windows, doors, trim (we stayed in the Alexander building). The missed opportunity: the conversion from what the building was before into hotel rooms lacked in architectural preservation and modern hotel design experience. The disappointing: cheap furniture and design choices; poorly designed bathroom renovation; no baggage stands provided; no shampoo, nor conditioner, nor bar soap provided (only a strange single bottle of low quality hybrid body and hair wash); no hooks anywhere to hang wet coats or towels; uncomfortable bed and pillows. The marketing team is trying to create too much connection between the hotel and the brewery, which is confusing logistically and experientially. Our view of the brewery was downgraded based on the hotel experience and we didn’t bother to visit. The breakfast was typical English style assortment. The Nespresso machines required too much maintenance for the service staff to keep up with during the breakfast period. All in all, the hotel management team should keep working at it and invest in the details that experienced travelers come to expect in a modern era hotel, as there is a ton of potential for a great experience.
