Right at the start of The Cliffs of Moher Walking Trail you will be ideally placed to tour the famous Burren and The Aran Islands as well as The Cliffs of Moher. The house was built by ancestors of the current owners in the 1870's and was sensetively renovated and restored four years ago and is now a warm comfortable space with oil fuelled central heating throughout, it is a great place to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. There are four large double bedrooms, all with stunning countryside and cliff views through the large windows. Two bedroom are ensuite and the other two share an adjoining bathroom. Both rooms feature wood burning stoves for cosy evenings in. Castleview could easily be called castle-cliffs-ocean-farm-view with the added bonus of baby calfs right outside the window. Sally is a perfect host — welcoming, informative, generous, responsive and discreet. She stocked the kitchen to ensure a pleasant first morning (the bread was soooo good) gave us a tour to explain the quirks of the house and offered suggestions about parking, activities, dining etc in Doolin. The house is spotless, comfortable, quiet and warm. You can easily walk down the hill to Gus O’Connors Pub (unless you’re my 85 year old father and are planning on having a few pints before the trip back). We walked out the door to the cliff walk most days and the full walk back from the Cliffs of Moher was deemed one of the top hikes some of my family members have ever taken. This is a great base for our time in Co. Clare!
We were welcomed late in the evening with warm bread and a lovely tour of the home. We wanted for nothing, the views are spectacular and the cliffs wall is just across the road.
Our group had a wonderful time at the Castle View House. It was well equipped with everything we needed. Sally was a very responsive and gracious host. Also, we could easily walk down to some of the shops and a pub so a great spot.
Great location, short walk (5 minutes) to Doolin pubs and restaurants and right by the start of the footpath to Cliffs of Moher.Very spacious property and well equipped and great views.
The facilities, cleanliness and overall quality of this accomodation were faultless. The location and views were wonderful and we were also blessed with great weather for the whole week!
I was unable to go but my sister, brother and daughter had a great time at the house. Great location, close to many things. All as described, a great place.
This was our second time staying at the Castle View House. The house is beautiful and has everything you need. The views from every window are simply amazing.
We recently stayed at Castle View House in Doolin and had a wonderful time. The house is beautiful, well equipped and provides a superb base to explore the stunning local area. Sally was a great host who welcomed us warmly to Castle View. We'd definitely stay again.
The house and property are authentic, charming, and very high quality. The nearly 200 year old house was renovated recently but kept historic aesthetic and materials. Excellent location relatively close to many of the western coastal attractions, small towns, and activities. Host was very communicative and helpful.
Pictures don’t do this property justice. The house was immaculate, spotless clean. Sally was the ultimate host, exceeding our expectations! This was the closest you could get to the cliffs and everything in town was within walking distance. Check in and out was flawless and sally responded to any request immediately. We had an amazing time!
Pictures just don’t do it justice. Beautiful house in a perfect location. Easy walk to Pubs and shops. Ocean views from most of windows. We are so glad we stayed here.
What a delightful accommodation at the cliffs of Moher. Walking distance to central Doolin. Hiking starts at the property. Perfect view of castle. Home was so comfortable and well appointed. Stayed for nearly a week and hated to leave.
This was the absolute perfect place to start our family's first trip to Ireland. I can't say enough good about it just like I can't take enough pictures to really show how wonderful it is.
Beautiful property. Location was great for visiting all the major sights in Co Clare. House was perfect in every way. So much space and really well decorated and appointed. Everything was provided down to some grocery basics on our arrival.
There were seven in our group, four adults and three teenagers. The home was very comfortable with plenty of room. It was a good jumping off point for day trips to Galway and Shannon, and lots of sightseeing in between. Sally was a great host, and very quickly responded to a couple of requests we had. Highly recommend!
Great views and location! Spacious and we didnt even use all the rooms! They also have livestock and we were able to see a new born calf halfway thru our stay. Communicating was easy and house is emaculate. She provides some staple foods as well like brown bread, orange juice, milk and butter. Great place!
Perfect piece of Doolin life you won’t want to miss. Great location, hospitality and space. We had our two kids with us so the cows were perfect for their entertainment, especially when they peek at the window to see what is going on! The cliff walk was ideally located and we loved walking there in tbe mornings. Host Sally is great!
Castle View House was pristine! We all loved watching the cows from our windows and walking around the beautiful property. The house was very well stocked with all that we could need to cook a few meals and take care of the family on vacation. Our host, Sally, left us bread, milk, eggs and some essentials to get us started upon arrival. We felt very welcomed and comfortable!
Our stay was lovely, and our accommodations were wonderful. This home is truly a magical place to unwind. And so much to explore and visit nearby. We chartered a private boat trip of the Cliffs and Moher and a visit to Inisheer, one of our favorite experiences while in Doolin.
I cannot say enough good things about our host family. Sally was welcoming and quite helpful with many items and information.
We could have stayed many more days.
Castleview House was nothing short of magical! Beautifully renovated historical house with a view of a castle AND cliffs by the sea! The house was exceptionally clean and well-equipped, and in a perfect location - pubs and music of Doolin, outdoor adventures at the Cliffs of Moher and Arran Islands, and a short drive to other sites like Blarney castle and Galway. Sally welcomed us with basic provisions, wine, AND homemade brown bread. Could not have been more perfect! We look forward to coming back!
This was our first time having Christmas away from either home or at family's, and it was fabulous. Sally was at the house to greet us and good not have been more helpful in managing our booking and stay.
The house surpassed expectations and the surrounding area was breathtaking despite the December weather. We loved the walks, pubs and local hospitality.
We highly recommend it for anyone thinking of doing the same.
