An icon in the heart of Hollywood Boulevard, this historic theater has exciting live shows and movies to entertain you.

Hollywood nostalgia combines with the latest shows at the El Capitan Theatre, a famous landmark surrounded by some of Hollywood’s top attractions. Take a photo with the elaborate, Spanish Colonial-style building as the backdrop. Check the schedule to choose the latest blockbuster movie or attend a special event.

Learn about the history of the theater, which debuted in 1926 to an audience filled with Hollywood stars. It was converted from a playhouse to a movie theater in 1941, then restored by the Walt Disney Company and Pacific Theatres from 1989. Many movies from Walt Disney Pictures have premiered at the theater since its reopening in 1991.

You might be lucky enough to catch a concert featuring the magnificent Wurlitzer organ, which has four keyboards. Representing different musical instruments, its 37 ranks of pipes create sensational sounds. No matter which performance you attend, the experience is impressive in the 1,100-seat auditorium. Settle in to enjoy old Hollywood glamor with the modern marvels of movie masterpieces.

Combine a show at the theater with exploring Hollywood Boulevard’s attractions, many of which are within easy walking distance. The Hollywood Walk of Fame honoring more than 2,750 celebrities is a must and it’s free. Find the names of stars enshrined within the stars along the sidewalk. Get a memorable photo in the courtyard in front of the TCL Chinese Theatre, where you’ll see the hand and footprints of many of your favorites.

Ovation Hollywood, formerly Hollywood and Highland, is a shopping, dining and entertainment hub just steps from El Capitan Theatre. Set aside plenty of time for shopping at boutiques and dining at restaurants with international menus. Show off your bowling skills at Lucky Strike and admire art at the JAPAN HOUSE LA gallery. The complex is also home to Starline Tours, the oldest sightseeing company in Los Angeles for tours to the homes of movie stars.

Parking for El Capitan Theatre is available at the Ovation Center, with reduced fees if you have tickets to a show. For public transportation, ride the Metro Red Line subway to the station located across the street.
