We didn’t venture out there for shops so can’t say anything about other nearby shopping stores. Rooms were spacious and clean. They had a common room to use with sofa etc. Loved the stay in this ryokan."

"This is a traditional ryokan with onsen facilities, and we chose the half-board option. The kaiseki dinner was excellent—beautifully presented and far more food than anyone could realistically finish. Breakfast was also outstanding, with the choice of either a Japanese or Western-style meal. The resort is slightly removed from the main tourist area of Arashiyama, located across the river and close to one of the train stations, though not the most central lines. This does make it feel quieter, but also means a bit more travel if you're exploring the area. The staff were wonderful—warm, attentive, and helpful throughout our stay. The onsen facilities were extremely relaxing and perfect after a full day of hiking. Overall, a classic ryokan experience with exceptional meals and hospitality."
