Watch out for hidden costs!!
I stayed at the Motel 6 in Fairmont WV. The motel was ok, it was clean but it wasn’t the best motel I’ve ever stayed at. I booked the room on Hotels.com. I thought I was getting the discounted rate at $77 a night. When I checked in the motel I had an extra person. I was charged more than double for my one night stay!!! I was charged $167 plus a $100 deposit. I could have stayed at a 5 star hotel for not much more than that. None of these fees was advertised at the time of when I made the reservations online. Next time I will be staying somewhere else whenever I’m in the area again.

The staff was very friendly and kind, and the carpeting in the rooms appeared to be fairly new. That said, the motel is in need of renovation. The furniture is beat up, the toilets are so stained we weren't sure if they were actually cleaned or not. There are no amenities other than old, crushed up soap. Even though there is a sign that says if you forgot a toiletry to ask at the desk for a complimentary one, they charged $3 for a travel shampoo that we could've gotten at the Dollar store (and they only had a Mens Dove 3-in-1!). The bed only has a VERY thin blanket on it (no bedspread, no extra blanket in room) when we asked for a blanket, there only offers were another thin blanket or an old bedspread. At checkin, there is a sign that there will be a huge charge for towels/washclothes soiled/stained with makeup, blood, vomit, urine, etc. yet our first set of towels (which I have neber seen a bath towel so small!) were stained to the point that we thought they, too, were dirty. We did not expect 4- or 5-star accomadations, but even for a budget-friendly motel, this one needs much improvement.

For the cost during a home football game, it was great. The office staff was friendly & helpful! The gentleman came to the room & fixed the TV at midnight. No bugs but the TV had alot of channels that didn’t have sound, the phone didn’t work, couldn’t find heat (the ac unit was almost on the ceiling so I couldn’t reach it anyways) and the door didn’t smoothly shut (but it had a deadbolt lock 😍). Overall a great first overnight experience!

The room was great very clean bed was great and clean sheets but the bathroom Well very little hot water the sink had been broken and repaired with like a puddy the door had a crack in it going to the bathroom like it had been hit and there was a dead fly hanging on the door. There is no early check in even calling early the day before. And I’m guessing it’s the owner was not very pleasant by the way take cash they require a cash deposit that while you’re checking out they go check your room to give money back

They were very kind and clean. No trace of bugs! Which is always a relief! We stayed two nights and felt safe. Not too far from Walmart or Morgantown. Good choice for the area.

The room was hot and musty smelling probably because the ac was not on. I had to buy air fresheners to mask the odor. The toilet had mildew/mold growing in it and the tub had terrible stains. I purchased cleaning products as I arrived late and just wanted to get to sleep instead of searching for another hotel. Most were sold out that’s how I ended up here. The next day I asked for another room and the gentleman that was helping me wanted to look at the room I was in first. He told me that the bug in the shower,, the dirty shower and toilet weren’t that bad and were acceptable. He said there were no other rooms so I said I wanted to cancel the remainder of my reservation. He walked away and another man then assisted me and took me to another room to see if it was good enough. It appeared to be slightly renovated and was indeed cleaner. I begrudgingly spent another night there but thankfully I was only in the room about 5 hrs total. The cable was out and the Wi-Fi only worked within 50 fr of the ofc.
