We booked a three-night stay at the Ruby Red Bungalow and arrived around 10 pm. After a long day's drive, we could hardly wait to pour into bed and get some much-needed rest!
I was in the kitchen when my wife and son called me into the back bedroom. As I entered the room, they had the sheets pulled back and were staring at the bed. The sheets were visibly dirty with pet hair and dirt. I went to check the other bed and found the same problem!
My wife and son used some of our bedding to lay out on top of their bed, and I began using the supplied washer/dryer to wash all the bedding for the bed I would be sleeping in. I finally went to bed sometime after 2 am!
I contacted the host, Richard, who was very apologetic and immediately began arranging for the cleaning service to come the following morning. The downside was that we had to pack out all our belongings the next morning so they could clean.
Additionally, Richard credited us for the first night's stay because of the troubles and inconvenience. Thanks, Richard!
The rest:
Despite the rough start, we enjoyed our stay. The well-designed house allows guests to spend quality time together or relax/nap in the bedrooms without feeling cramped.
It also has a spacious private yard with a fire pit and lounge chairs. (Great for chilling out with a beer and stargazing.) The location is excellent, whether you want to hang out in downtown Flagstaff or jump on 180 and head toward the Grand Canyon.
Would I stay here again? YES.
