Not as good as when I stayed a couple of years ago. The room wasn’t very clean and the shower gel and shampoo had run out and not been replaced. Was quite musty smelling which wasn’t great for hayfever. Was quite disappointed.

Kumara Historic Cottages - Hostel
At the time of writing, this hotel has a 9.2 on Expedia. That is truly absurd. This hotel is old (they don’t call it “historic” for nothing) and run down (featuring peeling wallpaper, a saggy matress, threadbare carpet and a kitchen that looks like it was built in the 80s). Nestled on the cycle trail
I thought it was a 3 bedroom or had 3 beds. There were 2 beds and a futon. We ended up using the futon in the living room instead. We didn’t find the indoor trash bin until we were leaving, because it was outside. Other than that, it was very clean and the price was great.

Copthorne Hotel Greymouth
Very dated hotel. The room was not well kept with a very dated bathroom. Most surprisingly, it only included a fan. Surely, there are nicer places to stay in Greymouth. The staff was nice but I would never stay here again.
