The Windstar Hotel - Emerald Isle / Swansboro

10/10 Excellent

"Great stay overall. I chose this hotel because I could bring my dog. Rooms were clean, spacious,bed was super comfortable, the refrigerator in the room wasn’t very cold, but that wasn’t a big deal. Also, it was quiet, which is always a plus! Nice staff. I was slightly disappointed in the breakfast, it was just toast, bagels, yogurt, cereal, and when I went down to eat nothing had been restocked so I had to wait for plates and other food items. Not that big of a deal because we were checking out anyways. There is a Dunkin Donuts next door so you have that option as well. It was walking distance to a couple of bars, and not far from the beach at all. I would definitely stay there again!"

"The hotel room immediately smelt very strongly of pizza, like strong cheap pizza smell. It was gross, but we got there late at night and were just passing through so we figured we’d let the front desk know in the morning. There was also no bath mat. There was no shower curtain. And one of the towels was stained completely yellow, it seemed like with oil- that should’ve just been thrown away. The elevator door also would glitch out and barely close so we had to use the stairs to take the luggage cart down. And the luggage cart wheels were not working. We would give this place a one star, but instead leave two because the bed and pillows were comfortable. It’s a bummer, it would’ve been a good hotel for a good price if it weren’t for those issues. The extra star is because the lady who checked us in was very welcoming. But in the morning, the front desk had a different person and she was not approachable or hospitable at all. It was very cold and strange."

"I love this hotel for its amenities and friendly staff. The rooms are really clean for being a beach hotel. I’ve been to some that still have sand everywhere and this locations cleanliness is top tier. They allow you to use the pool and park if you arrive early. They have beach chairs you can sign out for use."

"The hotel was great in some areas and lacking in others. Rooms were large, well appointed and clean, however housekeeping missed cleaning our room one day. The “urban view” was of the parking lot. I would recommend upgrading to the pool view. The restaurant staff ( both wait staff and hostesses) were not trained in fine dining and not very accommodating to their guests requests . Maybe a new restaurant manager is needed. Overall, our stay was pleasant and we would return."
