Ocean view from the Ilikai

The Ilikai Apartment Building (same as the Hotel) is one of Oahu's most popular vacation rental condos. Built in 1964 but constantly being updated and maintained in the common areas, many people including myself cannot believe the building was built over half a century ago. This unit, #1004 offers magnificent ocean views, and 2 pools, and the beach is just a 5 min walk away. Many great restaurants are within walking distance including the Food Pantry grocery store for travelers who prefer to cook.

If you plan on renting a car, we suggest contacting the hotel for the valet parking rates. The last time I checked the parking rates were $45/day. There is also public paid parking along the boat harbor with a rate of $1/hour.
If you only need a car for one day, some of our guests have rented a car just for the day from the car rental facilities in Waikiki, but make reservations in advance as they get rented quickly.

Beautiful location
The location and communication with the property manager were great, and having the little kitchen made travelling with kids so much easier. It took us a while to figure out the temperature calibration in the shower, and we were missing a few odds and ends in the kitchen, but overall, we were happy with our stay.

Was there for business. The hotel is awesome and has a wonderful view and coffee/breakfast place. The room is below par. The wall paper in the bathroom is dirty and stained. The bed is poor and the bedding is even cheaper. Is need of a good deep cleaning. Unfortunately the elevator was broken and i had take the stairs multiple times. The resturante at the roof top is awesome with a wonderful bar menu.

Price represents- good holiday
The cleanliness hit us a bit as we walked in, doors, walls, corners were pretty grubby but as we looked more the important things were clean:beds, fridge, toilet, sink shower. Outside: Nice harbour view, usable balcony, basic furniture, we took on chasing the birds away along with the toy owls that are there to help. We always shut the AC of when on the balcony as it was loud. some of the local bars bump out the music, but it doesn’t go past 8 or so. Kitchen: very small, nice new fridge good microwave. Stove was VERY old burner style/ crooked burners but we still made good meals, sink plug did not work so we used a large bowl for dishes. Lots of dishes, pots clean. Needs a pairing knife though. The bed and hide a bed were comfy and clean. The chairs were were comfy and new. 3 beach chairs and one beach towel. Could use a cooler and more beach towels- we didn’t want to use the nice white ones. We had a great holiday, for the money we paid it was a correspondingly reasonable accommodation. Mahalo

We loved staying in the condo. The location was excellent: short distance to our favorite beaches, parks, restaurants and Ala Moana mall. The view from the condo was amazing! The AC worked well, and we felt comfortable. We had a great time during the New Year celebration, and we are planning to come back.

Great location. Nice base for all day adventures. Fantastic view. Agree with others that place is dated but did the job well. One downfall is that balcony occupied with birds. Droppings on the furniture made it impossible to use.

Exactly what was promised!
The property is exactly as other reviews have stated: the room is clean and in an EXCELLENT location. We rented a car and there was easy self parking lot just next to the building. Close to grocery stores, multiple beaches & parks, and restaurants. The view is great and the pools are lovely. The only thing is that the room could use some updates as it is a bit dated.

Had a wonderful stay at this property! It is dated but it’s clean and very well stocked with everything you will need BUT the view is why you will want to stay here.. The location of the hotel is great, close to everything but just far enough away from busy Waikiki!! The Food Pantry is 2-3 blocks away with a fresh deli for all your food/drink needs!! The property managers are wonderful and communication with them is great!!

View and room is nice, but dated, laminate coming off, few tiles missing, rust in Bathroom. Birds nesting in AC unit, left droppings on the table, chairs and flooring of the Lanai - so we didn't go out there much. Property Manager didn't return our call. With a face lift (and no birds) this would be a great place!!

The property is dated but large and clean and the view is so soothing and spectacular that it makes you forget the rest. The rental agency was super helpful when we locked ourselves out. The location is great close to the beach, park, mall, restaurants.

Comfortable, clean room. First negatives... list is short. Some minor repair needed on furniture and shower drain. “ Dining table” legs separating and sharp. Coffee table very heavy and difficult to move on carpet and I used hide-a-bed so had to move it twice a day. Positives. Beds comfortable... even pullout. Plenty towels and other necessities. Leave blow dryer, curling iron, shampoo, etc at home. The condo has it all. It felt more live staying at a friend’s well stocked house. Nice surprise. I stayed at the Ilikai 2 years ago and that condo had bare necessities only. Location, view, staff all excellent. Parking is expensive, but the valet staff are the best and very shortly got to know us and treated us like ohana. I paid for Parking one day at a time. It is good from when you arrive until 11 pm next day.. To save money, if I came in late and knew I was leaving again in the morning,I parked at the marina for a dollar an hour. Kitchen well stocked with salt, pepper, and other basic spices. Several grocery stores nearby including very nice Whole Foods. This is a very well kept up older building. Plenty fast elevators. This unit very convenient to trash, laundry and elevators. Has the best views of ocean, harbor, and sunset. Nice big lanai. I did not feel room was too hot. We would shut curtain and turn off a/c when we left even. A/c worked well. Enjoyed use of provided beach chairs. Bathers elevator accommodated my 9’8” SUP. I am an active woman and stayed her with my 80 y/o mother. We were able to walk everywhere In Waikiki from this property. I have stayed at Waikiki Marriott and Hilton Hawaiian Village and much prefer the Ilikai. Definitely recommend this unit.
