8.6/10 Excellent! (1,002 reviews)
I hadn't been to Binghamton in some time, and I don't recall its being quite as "seedy" as it now seems to be. Near the hotel is a spot on the river where the homeless camp overnight. 2 people warned us to "watch out" as we were walking behind the hote.
The hotel was fine and the room spacious and clean...but there were rowdy folks near us, who banged, played music, and talked really loud until midnight. We called the front desk and they said they'd send security up. It was handled, eventually, but not a great night!
The next morning, one of our "neighbors" on the 5th floor was having a psychotic break! He was in the hall, yelling at the top of his lungs & banging on a nearby door. I called the front desk and was put on hold, perhaps because they were calling the police, which is what I did next. I'm happy to say the police arrived and "escorted" the man out of our area.
This is not meant to blame the hotel in any way. I believe they did their best to handle both situations, but I think it's important to mention that this was not a relaxing visit!
I will say that we had an excellent meal, out on the patio. This was a treat, after spending the day traveling. Sitting by the river was really pleasant.
My suggestion for making meals even better is to put some effort into making the patio more inviting. Tables & chairs were all "askew," needed wiping, and had no place settings or anything on them. There were no pots of flowers or anything out there, other than tables & chairs.
