"Awesome place right on the lake. Lake is great for swimming. House was very accommodating with plenty of beds. Only about 15 minutes from town also. Would definitely stay here again! "
"Alpena is a quiet, welcoming town, and this home is in a safe, friendly neighborhood that is great for walking with the dog. It’s about a 10-minute walk to Thomson Park Beach on Lake Huron, which has dog-friendly areas. Starlite Beach is a little farther away and was busier during our visit, but it offers a splash park and public bathrooms.Rockport State Recreation Area is a 20–30 minute drive north and has Devonian-era fossils you can collect, while Negwegon State Park is about 30 minutes south with a beautiful, undeveloped shoreline that’s perfect for hiking and beachcombing. Both parks are dog-friendly.The house is updated, exceptionally clean, and comfortable, with a well-equipped kitchen and thoughtful extras that made our stay more enjoyable. The fully fenced backyard works well for dogs of all sizes. The host was quick to respond to any questions.Guests should know that the upstairs has low ceilings and firm beds, so taller guests may prefer the downstairs bedroom. The house does not have central air conditioning, and the window units can be noisy, but in early August we found nights cool and breezy.We enjoyed dinner at Mango’s, the free NOAA Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary museum, and a glass-bottom boat tour on Thunder Bay. There are both Aldi and Meijer nearby for easy grocery shopping. If we visit Alpena again, we would gladly stay here a second time."
"Excellent location on Long Lake and a short trip to the big lake and Alpena. Open floor plan was great and the kitchen was amazing. Firewood ready to go for the campfire and plenty of chairs for everyone. Everything went smoothly with directions and check in, wireless connectivity and working smart tv. A very nice experience!! "This cottage was cute as can be! The beds were comfortable, although not queen beds. One kid slept comfortably on the couch. We could see the lake from the front of the house and the kitchen. We enjoyed sitting in the chairs at the front porch, hear the water as you watch people walk by or drive by in their golf carts and waved. It was a nice little neighborhood. Its relaxing to be close to the water, and there's a little boat ramp a short walk away where there were people fishing and the kids could swim. It's a rocky beach where it's fun to look at all the rocks and watch the sun set over the lake. The address that VRBO sent was wrong but Amy told me this information, but I had to ask the day of for the entry instructions. Communication was quick and helpful. It's small and quaint, like Grandma's house should be, and has everything you need. You'll enjoy it. "

"Beautiful, quiet, peaceful. Close enough to Alpena that you can experience some of what a city has to offer, far enough away that you have peace and quiet. The kayaks got put to use on the river and everything that we could need had been thought of. Plenty of dishes to use. Plenty of chairs to sit by the fire. Plenty of firewood to burn. Check-in was stress-free. We met the host for a quick tour and they were available via text if we had any need. Cell reception in the area was spotty, but that's not always a bad thing. A great opportunity to leave work at work!"

"This place exceeded my expectations- it was such a cute mom/pop spot. The fridge and microwave both worked great, good selection of channels on the tv. The room was a little on the small side but very clean. My kids were a little bummed the playground was disassembled but they had the beach and park right across the road to make up for it! "

The downtown was either a quick couple minute drive or a nice 15ish minute walk by the water. I would definitely recommend this as a place to stay!"
"This house was perfect for our family of four. Kids loved the comfy beds, toy and game selection, and grassy yard to play in. The house is thoughtfully stocked with supplies and all needed basics. Centrally located for easy access to the beach, restaurants, and grocery. Check in was a breeze, and Jennie is friendly and responsive. We will definitely stay again next time we’re in town. Thanks! "Overall impression of this property, Freakin Awesome. The pictures and description of site are very accurate, but you have to see this one for yourself. The host was very accommodating, keeping me up to date on any changes and quick to respond to any questions i had. Caught a few nice smallmouth bass out back in the river. The Alpena area is a nice place to visit, plenty of things to do and see, some very good dining choices as well, Starlite beach and splashpad were great. All within a very short drive. Thank you for a great experience. Will definitely keep you in mind for future stay."
