Youth and optimism flourish in Lyon’s 7th Arrondissement, where you’ll find a number of universities and schools beside leafy parks and cafés. A range of activities keep its young inhabitants and visitors busy, while relatively new shops and bars are creating an alternative subculture. Stroll along the riverside promenade and enjoy the picturesque setting.

Capturing the rejuvenated theme of the district is the Halle Tony Garnier, a former slaughterhouse converted into a concert hall. Attend an event in this iconic arena, where Coldplay, Phil Collins, Justin Timberlake and other famous artists have performed.

The quarter lies a little south of the city center of Lyon, along the eastern side of the Rhône River. Take the metro to Place Jean Jaurès or Debourg in the center of the district and get around by tram or on foot. Cross the river for the 2nd Arrondissement or head east for the 8th Arrondissement.
