It is not often that I have difficulties expressing myself. Weeks after leaving Sirnea the magic still endures and makes it hard to put into words the experience we have lived. It is somehow, just like the memory of that first love, the one that you’ll always remember, but you’ll never be able to explain the magic, to pinpoint what made it so special.
The villa is well built and well appointed, with quality and comfortable furnishings that combine modern facilities and the cozy feeling of a much smaller place. The space is large and intimate at the same time: substantial enough for multiple activities, however giving the impression of a family atmosphere of relaxation around the fireplace. Guests may cook, watch TV, play board games, read, talk etc, in the same space at the same time without encumbering each other, and still feel together as a group. The bedrooms are well proportioned, positioned and furnished, and the two separate wings, with the attached bathrooms provide privacy when needed. TV, internet and mobile coverage, central heating, a well appointed kitchen, a barbecue, a substantial library and CD/DVD collection are available on the premises.
Once you step outside though, it is where the magic begins in earnest. Two majestic mountain chains to the east and west border a region of lower peaks and rolling hills that is visible from the vantage point of the villa. The air smells differently, the sky is close and you start to discover the discrete sounds of nature. Villages, scattered houses, are far away, giving you the sensation of being remote, on top of the world, however near enough to be able to hear in the distance the sounds of cowbells filtering through the crisp air. If you feel like forgetting all about your daily routine, there will be no one to disturb your peace, with the exception maybe of a solitary shepherd and his herd grazing on the nearby hill.
We suggest though you don a pair of hiking boots and discover the surrounding areas. You can take a serious hike, even for a few days, in the mountains and find accommodation in chalets or you may just stroll up and down the hills, along the streams and into the forests. If you wander in the surrounding villages you’ll find hospitable people who continue to live according to ancient customs and you shouldn’t leave without trying the local food.
We were really well taken care of and we thank our gracious hosts. We long to let ourselves be engulfed by the magic of Sirnea once more.
