Cute and quiet
I booked a “staycation” for myself on New Year’s weekend. My dog and I enjoyed the quiet time together. The location is great and the house was nice and roomy. Our host was great! Will definitely plan on staying again!

Beautiful Weekend at the Farmhouse
We had such a wonderful time staying here! The property is beautiful and the home is so cozy, with fun decor. We walked 5 min to get dinner in Myersville and spent many sunny hours on the screen porch. Great location to access hiking and outdoor activities in WV and VA as well.

Great location!
We enjoyed our stay very much in the farmhouse! Would love to stay again in the future but would appreciate some window coverings. Would owner consider putting some blinds or sheers in room where 1st floor shower is? Also a window in master bedroom did not have covering. Otherwise, very comfortable stay!

Step back in time in this cozy farmhouse
Feel like you are living in a by-gone era in this 1900’s farmhouse. It is charmingly decorated with antiques and seasonal decor in every room. The owner generously provides toiletries and paper goods such as toilet paper and paper towels. The kitchen is well equipped and there is plenty of space to eat in the kitchen or the dining room. We were only there a few nights but enjoyed our stay!

Wonderful location and property
This is a great location and property. The management was easy to work with; the house is described well… it is a farm house that is old but in great shape for age and has an eclectic personality that reflects its years. I loved it, we slept well and we enjoyed our stay. I would advise others to carefully read reviews re the bathrooms. However; that was not an issue for us at all. My reason for the lack of all 5s on this fantastic rental is the following only….. the window coverings need better coverage for privacy. A few shades or curtains in key locations of property do not adequately close off … example… we had to hang a sheet in lower bathroom which is in utility area to cover window for taking showers. I think this could be thought out a bit better and still retain the original charm of the home. Again, this is a great property that does have dishwasher, oven and period furniture. It is a blend of old and new which totally matches the homes personality. There are several thoughtful things. Both bedrooms are upstairs, so for person with mobility issues the steps may be problematic but otherwise; this is a comfortable, relaxing rental home that has fantastic views and is pet friendly. I would definitely rebook if in the area. I do hope someone will look at improving privacy re window coverings in some key areas of the house. I was fortunate enough to have sheet with me that I could use.

Awesome, affordable Maryland getaway site...
We chose this as a base for a weekend of Appalachian Trail hiking and local (downtown Frederick, as it turned out) sightseeing. If you're an AT hiker, this house is ideal! It's very near multiple AT parking locations: -Turner's Gap/Old South Mountain Inn -Ensign Cowall parking -I-70 AT overpass parking area on US-40. There others, but these are the ones we used...all within a 10 minute drive for shuttling hikers to AT trailheads. The large rear laundry room with its full-size kitchen sink and large counter was excellent for preparing packs and hydration systems. Other non-AT trails are also easy reached from this house (in various Maryland state parks nearby). History buffs will appreciate its proximity for exploring the South Mountain corridor and Civil War history of the region. Antietam (battlefield) and Frederick (Civil War medicine museum, great downtown) are nearby. Host Lisa was awesome, the views are fantastic. Select with confidence! For our AT hiking weekend: it was perfect! The house is clean and as listed. Please look at the listing (and reviews!) carefully. This house is nearly 125 years old (and has several distinct "eras" represented in its construction and additions). If "modern and minimalist" are what you seek, the quirkiness stemming from the home's age (modern conveniences we take for granted clearly were added after the original construction) may leave you frustrated and you might want something newer.

We loved the farmhouse for a weekend wedding in Frederick. It was close but far enough away where my parents, husband, and dog could stay without the hustle and bustle of the city. The house and property were perfect. We couldn't have asked for a better stay!

Unique and antique
Comfortable and spacious house with a gorgeous view of the foothills from the back yard. The town is quiet, and was a good place for our family of four and dog to stay on a road trip. The home was clean and beds comfortable. Not an ideal spot for someone wanting updated amenities but it’s as described and given a lot of small touches indicating thoughtfulness and care.

This property was amazing. An old farmhouse with so much charm! The decor was fabulous and got so many compliments from our guests. I booked it as a spot for a bridal party to prepare for my sisters wedding. The bride and groom spent the night there after the wedding and were quite comfortable! Two thumbs up!

Overall, it was a lovely stay. The only thing was that it wasn’t too clean when we got there (such as the dishes and the counter) However, the appliances worked well, was spacious, loved the outdoor scenery. My dog got to be free outdoors.

Great location
The farmhouse is in a great location and was very easy to travel to lots of excellent hiking as well as Frederick. The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. We loved being able to bring our pups as well, and the mudroom was great for being able to watch the sunset when it was a little too chilly to be outside. We had a nice stay and recommend for those with dogs looking to hike! A couple small things that could have been better- many of the surfaces of dressers and windowsills had decorations on it which made it feel like you could easily knock things over, and there were not many hooks to hang things like towels/bags/etc. Also, I don't think this would be an issue for many, but for those very sensitive to scents, the house had a scent of febreeze and/or scented candles throughout. It wasn't a bad smell at all though but just a heads up for those who are sensitive.

Huge disappointment
I waited a week before writing this review in order to stay less emotional. It quickly became obvious that the owners were probably selling the home along with the surrounding property as no effort had been made to bring the home up to any standards. We discovered that the oven did not work within the first ten minutes after arrival. We did get a quick response from the host expressing great surprise that this was the case. It never got repaired and we were there for five days. I guess we could have been the first guest that planned to cook. The entry door handle which they described as unique and had a skeleton key that could be used to lock it, fell off onto the outside porch at least once a day. Previous guest commented on the lack of a shower upstairs so we were prepared for that. However, the downstairs shower when not used as a handheld only pointed one direction, directly at the shower door, which would not close. This resulted in water escaping the shower enclosure whenever it was used. We didn't go there to watch TV and they did have a hundered apps on the television, just none that could get live network programming. I asked the host about it but they simply said that was what they had and they watched the news on the roku channel, which wasn't current. I guess we just expected more. The host did supply an abundance of toiletries and such but, in general it felt like this house was falling apart. I realize it is an old home but, it could have been much better.

Adorable old farmhouse with a few quirks
Overall my friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. There was some mess left in the kitchen, but otherwise the house was clean. Some of the chairs were not very sturdy, but since it was just the two of use we had plenty of options. The shower situation is a bit odd, with a handheld only in the upstairs shower (so basically had to sit in the tub to shower) and the downstairs shower spraying water through the door. Things we loved about this place is the ease of access, the large yard and nice view, the many parks and walkable streets, and cooking in the kitchen. Would definitely rent again.
