This secluded custom crafted log cabin rests on 7 beautiful acres of the best Brown County has to offer. Enjoy all the amenities of home and plenty of space to relax and unwind in a peaceful and private retreat, surrounded by nature. The Space: Pulling onto the property, you will drive down a long forested driveway, and once parked you will see and hear the bubbling fountain at the top of the stairs down to the cabin. The large front porch has a welcoming porch swing and fans. Enter the cabin and view a two story family room with a stone fireplace with a wood mantel crafted from an old local barn. The family room is situated with leather couches and a large TV. Free WiFi is available for streaming your favorite digital platforms. The kitchen is loaded with tools for all your cooking needs. The dining room has a beautiful large table for family to gather around for meals or game nights. Enjoy the in-deck hot tub and large built in fire pit overlooking the woods. Curl up in the hammock on the lower deck and enjoy a nap or have fun with yard games with the entire family. If the weather sends you indoors, escape to the entirely glassed atrium room at the back of the cabin and enjoy nature inside. The basement is entertainment central with a full size pool table, ping pong table, mini foosball table, and mini air hockey table. Take the spiral staircase to the lower level and find a space to workout with a treadmill, stationary bike, and elliptical machine. If you decide to venture out for the day, Brown County State Park is just 9 miles south. You can enjoy a day in historic Nashville (10 miles) exploring shops, restaurants, and local arts and crafts. Get even more of your shopping fix at the Edinburg Premium Outlet mall, just 18 miles from the cabin. Bloomington and Indiana University are 30 miles from the cabin. Public lake access is available on Lake Lemon (18 miles) and Lake Monroe (30 miles). The bedroom upstairs and the basement bedroom both have queen beds and full bathrooms on each level. There is also a pull-out queen sofa and pull-out twin sofa in the basement. We have a pack n play, booster seat, and baby gates available upon request, so please let us know if you need them when making your reservation. Interior surfaces were clean and neat. However, there are many items that need attention. Access to the main stairs into the cabin is treacherous due to uneven, drooping brickwork, making it dangerous for elderly persons. The umbrella shade on the rear deck is broken and, when opened, a bird's nest fell out. The s'mores items in the welcome basket were quite old and when opened were oxidized. Batteries in the Operation game were rotten and leaking acid. The pet exercise area was overgrown with tall weeds, and the gates were off their hinges. A great deal of moss was located on the north side of the main upper deck along the sunroom exterior. The master bath shower has a caddy that causes the spray to go horizontally, necessitating that the shower be handheld. This is a burden on people in their 80s and would be a frustration for anyone else. Finally, the cooking equipment has been abused and is no longer serviceable. It was cold and rainy during our trip, so being warm and cozy in this bright space, while hearing the rain on the roof was pretty cool. The cabin has everything you need for cooking and preparing meals. The beds are comfy. Our family included 3 adult children. Snow on the ground, record cold temperatures - but the cabin was cozy, so much to do (hot tub, games, bird watching, movies, ping pong and pool). The kitchen is wonderfully equipped and we enjoyed cooking together and eating around the lovely dining room table. Consequently, we usually have our family Christmas in January! I rented the cabin for a few days, and my adult children arrived at different times. My mother and brother live in southern Indiana...mom came and stayed the duration. My brother and his adult kids all arrived on Saturday for Christmas dinner. The cabin has enough living areas that everyone was comfortable... a huge dining table for great meals together... and the owners left the Christmas decor out for us! It was a wonderful time...except for having to leave a day early due to a snow storm that would have snowed us in. Would love to come back in the summertime! House is exactly as pictured. Plenty of space for 7 adults and 2 small kids. We have local family in the area and we were all able to have supper together, converse and play games in the main room. The younger crew enjoyed games in the lower level lqter in the evening.
