Pocitos has plenty to keep you busy, but don't restrict yourself to only one place. Grab a set of wheels and take to the road to discover what else awaits in the surrounding area. Here are some great options we've come up with:

• Head off to Minas for an excellent sightseeing experience. About 65 miles from Pocitos, it's home to many amazing sights, including Parque Salto del Penitente.
• Located 70 miles away, Maldonado is also popular with wanderers. Allow time to check out San Fernando de Maldonado Cathedral while you're here. It's one of the reasons people love staying a while in this vibrant city.
• Santa Teresa National Park is 160 miles from Pocitos and is one of the region's most spectacular nature spots. Go for a wander around and enjoy the fresh air here.

If you don't have a driver's license issued in Uruguay, then you may need to acquire an International Driving Permit (IDP) in your place of residence to be allowed to rent a car. It's also important to note that if an IDP is required, it has no validity on its own. You'll be asked to show your current driver's license your passport and other forms of documentation as well.
