Car Rental Te Aro

When you've checked out all of the fabulous places in Te Aro, there's a lot more to see in the surrounding region. Pick up the keys to a rental car, throw your bags in the trunk and hit the road. We've come up with some drives we think you'll enjoy:

• You'll find The Square and loads more interesting sights in Palmerston North. From Te Aro, it's around 80 miles away.
• Next stop? It has to be Nelson, which is around 80 miles away. Trafalgar Park is one local highlight you shouldn't miss.
• Get into the outdoors and breathe in some fresh air at Lyttelton Harbour. It's about 190 miles from Te Aro.

If you don't possess a driver's license issued in New Zealand, then you might need to apply for an International Driving Permit (IDP) in your home country in order to rent a car. It's also important to note that if an IDP is required, it won't be valid on its own. You'll need to show your current driver's license your passport and other forms of ID as well. Lastly, it's important that the credit card you used to book the rental matches the name on your license and passport. A few other things to note for international car rentals are:

• Age restrictions: You need to be 25 or over in most places to rent a car. If you're younger, it might still be possible to rent a car but you'll have to pay a Young Driver's Surcharge. Additional restrictions may also apply to the types of cars you can rent.
• Driving limitations: Be sure to read the rules and regulations before getting behind the wheel. You typically can't cross country borders, drive on ferries or off road with your rental car.
