Sadly, I can’t give this hotel 5 stars. It has the potential to be a 5 star property, but in our experience, it simply isn’t there yet.
For a 5 star hotel, I found the use of paper cups for coffee at lunch and dinner very disappointing. We were even offered paper cups for drinks at the beach bar, which I certainly wouldn’t expect at a 5 star resort.
There was also no coffee in the room only a kettle, although surprisingly, there were proper mugs. At this level of hotel, I would expect at least basic coffee and tea facilities in the room.
The food was not consistently hot, and the buffet was not particularly well laid out, which made lunch and dinner feel more hectic than they should. We also regularly found ourselves sitting beside empty tables that still had dirty dishes on them. This really took away from the overall dining experience and is something I would not expect from a 5 star property.
Our room also had some issues. The patio door did not lock, and the bathroom door hits your knees unless you close it completely and curtain hooks were iff the rail making it look slopy.
Unfortunately, the service was another area that needs major improvement. Staff often came across as though guests were bothering them rather than being welcomed. On one occasion, I was told I could not order a drink directly from the bar and had to sit down and order. There were no available seats at the time, when I did find one, the app indicated that I had been given incorrect information.
