A few shops and restaurants within easy walking distance. Room was huge- walk in shower, kitchenette, sitting area. Would have preferred a double bed instead of two singles.mattress was too hard for me. Breakfast was plentiful. Lots of sun terraces and access to the sea. I would absolutely recommend this hotel.

Room was dated but clean. Indoor pool was useful. Can't swim at the beach because there no beach, very rocky and waves were pretty rough, but nice to have waterfront view. Very accessible to funchal by bus. Bus stop was just a block away. Font desk were not too helpful interms of going out of their way looking for excursions outside of their tour partners. Beach towels were controlled, first sets are free, if need clean ones there are extra fees and must return the towels to front desk to avoid fees. Cannot leave it in the room. Breakfast was good. All in all, we enjoyed our stay.

Had a great week at Rocamar, beautiful views, great breakfast, very clean hotel, very friendly staff besides the guys at the reception who are not as friendly and engaging! But would definitely stay there again.

The location is right on the ocean which is terrific and the views spectacular. Walking distance to Reis Magos beach and several restaurants and a lovely bakery. The resort was very clean and the people friendly and hard working. Great entertainment each evening and a late afternoon happy hour. We would definitely stay here again!

Amazing stay at Rocamar. We had a beautiful sea view room and the reception staff were very helpful whenever we had questions. Caniço is a wonderful place to stay if you want to be away from the hustle and bustle of Funchal. The hotel even had a diving centre located inside where we were able to sign up for a try dive last minute!

Enjoyed Our Stay

We enjoyed our stay very much. Hotel is located right on the ocean and walkable to restaurants and markets. Our room had a fantastic sea view, spacious clean with big walk-in shower and very quiet. Buffet breakfast was satisfactory with plenty of seating. Happy hour in the bar was a nice bonus. Paid parking is recommended as street parking is limited.

It was by far the best experience during my first trip to Madeira Island. Our room had a balcony which overlooked the Atlantic Ocean and listening/watching the waves crash against the cliff rocks was simply surreal! Would definitely recommend this hotel and will definitely go back for more!

The first thing that you need from a hotel is good sleep. With the almost-flat pillows here it was a terrible sleep. Hotel has amazing views of the ocean situated right on top of it. Room was large and comfortable. Good value for money too.
