With its clear water, flat beaches with soft sand and spectacular coral reefs, Muta Beach is among the city’s most picturesque bays. The ocean here is placid and shallow, making it ideal for families with kids. Capture photos of the picturesque stretch of sand and the enclosing hills of green vegetation.
Choose between a quiet, secluded spot and a busier part of the beach with vendors and live performers with musical instruments. Swaying palm trees provide natural shade on the long sandy beach, which also has umbrellas and deck chairs available to rent. Purchase coconuts and snacks from the huts that decorate the stretch of sand.
Sunbathe under the sun and cool off with a swim in the clean and placid water. This is known as one of the most tranquil beaches in the region, where you can escape the crowds.

Muta Beach is on the Atlantic Coast about 7 miles (12 kilometers) north of Porto Seguro. Take a bus north from the downtown part of the city to the beach for a small fee. Note that the traffic is fairly congested at the end of the work day. Visit the nearby Coroa Vermelha Beach for its craft shops. Get around the area on foot or take taxis.
