Isle of Bute Beach Vacations

Great hotel in general - clean but we had concerns about the smell of mould in the bathroom, had to jam the door open as it was stifling when closed. Something to do with fire laws there....that may put me of staying there as I struggle with that particular smell - HOWEVER....the Chop Grill & Bar was excellent!!! Staff amazing and the food was so good we ate there twice!!! Would defo visit the restaurant again :-)

We thought the hotel was great. Our room was very nice, and both the restaurant and bar were excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Overall, it was a terrific experience.

The room was fabulous with a big comfortable bed. All the staff we met were friendly and very helpful. We were travelling with our dog so couldn’t eat breakfast in the main restaurant but we ate in the tavern instead which was lovely and quiet. We could pick from their menu or order anything from the main restaurant including the buffet too. In the evenings we ate in La Vista and again took our dog, the first was great and again we were well looked after. My only negative would be the cost of bringing our dog at £50 per night which is very high compared to other hotels on our trip and the very long dog policy we needed to sign on arrival which we’ve never come across before. As responsible dog owners we always clean up after our dog and would expect to pay extra in the unlikely event of damage.

This castle is fabulous! For Americans it is like stepping into a Downton Abby set. The staff greet you at the door, take your luggage and from that moment forward treat you like royalty. Not only is this a gated property, but you need your sir name in order for the gate to open! Then the drive up the narrow road just enhances your excitement to see the castle. John was great at showing us around and to our room. He was very helpful in understanding where everything was and how to get around. The option to use boots and coats owned by Glenapp to tour the grounds was an added bonus so you didn’t get your own shoes dirty. The room was spacious, clean and very welcoming. To have the option of taking a full tub was amazing. Surprising was the turn down service given without request - we had already retired but would have loved to have this done for us. In the morning we requested some hot tea to enjoy while in the sitting area of our room. We were given a drink credit by using Expedia, but I am wondering if the dinner and breakfast were already included in the pricing. That was not clear, but we did enjoy a very wonderful breakfast while listening to classical pop music - very Bridgerton. Even without the TV references, this is a quintessential castle experience and I highly recommend staying at Glenapp Castle.

Good stay

Such a nice place! So well kept and such a good location on the square. Amazing restaurant downstairs and the breakfast was incredible. Service was amazing and the gentleman checking us in was hilarious and welcoming! Would advise anyone visiting Hburgh to stay here!

Excellent
