We arrived early and the staff was very helpful. Though our room was not ready, they stored our luggage and allowed us to use the pool and fitness center until the room was ready. It was ready before noon, and we were given access then, even though it was still hours before their normal checkin time.

Welcoming and helpful staff, comfy beds, beautiful grounds and views and so much peace and quiet! We stayed in early April and the weather was beautiful but unpredictable (as usual in the Azores) and our room stayed a comfortable temperature the entire time without using the thermostat.
The only change I'd make is more variety at breakfast and more opportunity to try the Azorean beef at dinner!

Our stay at Whales Bay Hotel was quite wonderful.
We loved every aspect of it. The appartments and the common areas are all kept spotlessly clean. The reception staff were really heplful and knowledgeable about the islands. The hot tub and the steam/sauna was a highlight of our day. There is nothing about the accomodation we did not like. We will very probably book again next year.

The staff were excellent from the start. The hotel stay included a very good full breakfast, with a great view. The restaurant was excellent as well and although there are many very good restaurants on Sao Miguel, the hotel restaurant was ranked as the first or second choice among our group of four. The bartender, Bernardo, was an artist with his cocktails. Although the spa was under construction, overall I would highly recommend this hotel.

The owner is very nice and we were received in a very kind fashion. The house is fashionable and very cozy. The surroundings are just amazing.
No need to worry about parking, since there is a parking spot right in front of the house, inside the property.
We just loved it.
