The building inside and outside are old and different from the photos. The interior was clean but not well maintained. The elevator was making loud noise and strange sounds both when start moving and stopping. The main light over the ceiling in our room was not working and had not been fixed. Breakfast was good and the staff who served us food at Bistro was very polite and friendly.

What a great property. Didn't know what to expect and was blown away by the attention to detail. Will be back.

Okay so we stayed here twice on our recent Newfoundland trip. The first was for 3 nights when we 1st came into St. John's and the last was when we traveled the whole island and then came back for 2 nights before leaving for home. Warning flags went off 1 month before we traveled. I contacted the hotel to tell them that our flight would be late so we would be checking in after 1 am. They told me they didn't have our reservation and that was scary because we were 1 month away and the weekend we were staying on was the long weekend for both Canadians and Americans so it was sure to be packed. I had booked back in February through Expedia and was freaking out. The hotel was useless. We emailed them and called them and they said that it wasn't there and that we needed to speak with Expedia and this is after sending them our confirmation and booking numbers ect. Expedia had the reservation but somehow the hotel did not. Long story short, if it wasn't for Expedia and their team this issue would have never been resolved. After Expedia reached out to the hotel the hotel suddenly found the reservation. Surprise Surprise. We ended up coming in after 1am to still wait 15mins to check in because the 1 person at the desk was on the phone. She was friendly but didn't give us our Expedia VIP voucher for drinks and I even needed to reach out to Expedia about that. The room was a bit rough for wear but comfortable. This hotel needs renovating. Pool and gym were closed :( Not a good experience.

Wistful location and a beautiful room. Very large with a nice sitting area, decorated with a spa like touch. Very comfy bed, waffle towels and bathrobe. Local toiletries to make you feel connected to the area. Conveniently located across the street from one of the best restaurants in St John’s the Mallard Cottage. An authentic experience all around with a luxury touch!
